Proves bad language and sex is not necessary for exciting, compelling read.

Enjoyed this...a little slow in some spots, and some of the characters you would have thought would be important didn't really develop, but otherwise a good story. Liked the suspense, the clean romance, and the faith factor. Would recommend. Review by CherishD

I'm with 04 September 2019 about the many errors taking away the joy of reading this book. The hymns and prayers are fine, though. I didn't finish this book. There are too many good writers out there.

I found so many errors in the book, a person can tell it was never edited. When I see so many errors, it takes the joy out of reading the book. I couldn't finish the book, as I would be marking up about every page, due to the lack of editing. If you don't mind the lack of editing & the okay storyline, then go for it. NOTE: The book mentions a lot of church going songs, prayers.

I really enjoyed this Sadly whoever was responsible for proofreeding must have fallen asleep during the last quarter of the book because too many stupid mistakes started appearing (ie bam for barn). Alrhough a distraction it didn't detract from the storyline.

Good suspense and intrigue! Rodd Durand is the new sheriff in town. He is trying to solve a string of break-ins at the rural homes of elderly residents. There have been no clues left at the scenes of the crime and since the residents were not home at the time, there are no witnesses. Wendy Carey is the county home health nurse. She is concerned about the impact of the break-ins on many of her patients who have been victims of the crime. When Sheriff Durand approaches her about a possible link between her patients and the timing of the break-ins, she is hurt that he would think she could be involved just because of her family's history in the community. It ends with a tiny cliffhanger – just enough to make you want to read the next book in the series but not take away from the enjoyable ending of this one. This is a well-written mystery with plenty of intrigue and suspense plus some clean romance to add to reading enjoyment.

I look forward to reading Christian books because I dislike detailed sex written in regular romance. However, this book had likeable characters for the most part, but one of the most boring drawn out plots. I have lived in the northern woods, and a lot more noise echoes through the trees and pastures. You can hear the snow mobiles & voices farther than the writer thinks.

This novel is wonderfully written and completely engaging with one exception. God. I am a once catholic but currently leaning toward athiest. It was hard not to skip passages but i always try to finish whatever book I start. The characters are relatable and the police procedure is pretty spot on.

The story line kept repeating the same thing in every chapter. Boy likes girl, no clues to catch the thief, trust in God. I almost quit reading each page to just go to last chapter to finish the book.

Winter’s Secret #1 Northern Intrigue by Lyn Cote Nurse Wendy Carey and Sheriff Rod Durand have their hands full as they try to figure out who is responsible for the strange, mysterious and increasingly dangerous happenings going on in their little community. Coupled with action, intrigue, romance and faith...learning to turn to God in all things and accepting His forgiveness, and interesting secondary characters; the harsh winter of Wisconsin is the perfect setting for this heartwarming story.
