The "Who Was" series is my daughters favorite. She loves to read about historical influences. They are perfect for school projects or just for a good clean fun read. I highly reccomend for kids who are history buffs.

I bought this for my kids for history. We have read others in the series and really enjoyed them. The books keep the kids interest and had a lot more to them than I expected. The books are well written, very informative and entertaining. I would recommend any of the "Who Was..." series.

Summary: This book is an overview of Franklin Roosevelt life. It begins when he was born and how he grew up, to meeting his wife and becoming President of the United States of America. The reader begins to understand a lot of his accomplishments and what he had to overcome. Personal Reaction:I love reading about World War II, but having this in a small chapter book for kids was really exciting for my boys. We read this together and we couldn't put the book down. I like that something so great is put into simple words for kids to understand. Classroom Extension Ideas:1. This would have to be read to older students or could be read to a chapter a day to younger ones. While the teacher that week is talking about America, they could talk about the presidents and discuss what a great president Roosevelt was for America. 2.Another way to use this book is when your class is discussing presidents, especially during election time. When you could be talking about past and present presidents.

FDR served during the thirties and first half of the forties. Durig that time, Walt Disney made hia first full-length films. The Wizard of Oz came out. Winston Churchill became prime minister in England. World War II raged. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, making America go in war.

One: the "Who was..." series doesnt have any inappropriate words! Two: Franklin D. Roosevelt was a former president, and should be respected, even if he is dead! My grandpa was actually known by F.D.R. Those were his initials. Fredrick Davis Richter... I always would ask him to tell me stories about F.D.R. and he would tell me about Franklin Delano Roosevelt. So, when we were studying F.D.R. I asked if they knew anything about Fredrick Davis Richter, but they said "No. We have not heard of him, but how interesting that he has the same initials of Franklin Delano Roosevelt." And I was shocked, cause I was only 8.

Franklin Roosevelt was the first president to serve more than two terms. He could not walk because he caught a desise called polio. His last words were "I have a terrible headache!" Many people missed him very much after his death.
