Is there a series I recommend more to people? Heck, no! I started reading this series 16 years ago when I was in middle school and I still continue to enjoy the books. It's a fun read, especially if you are the type of person to just watch what your cat(s) is/are doing. When I started reading these, my family, cat, and I lived in a condo where he had a 50' leash to run around outside. :( When we moved to Alaska with him, he was the happiest cat ever! :) No clan cat could call him a wuss fighting bald eagles, chasing bigger cats away, and guarding his territory from wolf hybrids! Watching my cat experience a change in life, and in many ways for the happier, I could imagine the clan cats doing what he did. It was fantastic. Besides, when my cat did pass away (I still hate eagles for this), I could imagine him safely in StarClan or cat heaven. Besides the fun stories, if you can get past the middle-school reading level, you will find this series has well-developed views from different leaders. In many ways, it does reflect how different minds have different opinions that are equally right. The question then becomes, a reflective one: What makes a good leader? Everyone has come up with different answers, but what I know is that some of the social coping tools i learned came from Rusty (I'm not spoiling anything with the protagonist's first name) as he grows up from kittenhood to full on adulthood. I very much recommend this for youngsters wanting to learn how to break up disputes and deciding when to "pick your battles."

The fur family and I started reading Bluestars Prophecy years ago when I was recently single and was looking for something light to help me relax and get to sleep. We were hooked. The plots are well defined and the characters hold true. Having several cats and watching their distinctive personalities and interactions made the books seem to come to life in our own house. That said no large clowder is needed to enjoy all the different series and I do hope there are a few more to come. Sometimes I wonder if the leaders are not like human examples but am sorrowed to see that the cats have much more honesty and integrity. Purrs all
