Sometimes when you lose something, you don't know where to begin looking for it. People always say, "Where did you see it last?" But Tuesday knows exactly where she lost her mom. She watched her leave, watched her walk out onto the moonlit beach, each step leaving a silver footprint in the sand. When it happened, Tuesday didn't think it was unusual. Most nights the pull of the moon lured her mom into the inky water. What was unusual was the fact that she never returned.
It all feels like too much for 12-year-old Tuesday DiMare when her best friends betray her, but sometimes you have to quit feeling sorry for yourself and a whole new world will open up. And the world waiting for Tuesday is magical....it's the secret world of freshwater mermaids.

About the Author

KAT Klein is an award winning educator and of all the places her career has taken her, her favorite place to be is in the middle of a group of children, writing for and with them. She believes in the power of the written word to transform lives, and has always dreamed of becoming a mermaid.

She grew up on the waterways of the Great Lakes and spent her childhood exploring Lake Huron on water skis behind a 13-foot Boston Whaler. She currently lives by the Saint Clair River where the wails of foghorns wake her up on misty mornings, and the thrum of freighter engines make the pans in her kitchen rattle.

Her house is full of animals and Sams. Once in a while her son and husband (both named Sam) campaign to change her name to Sam as well, but so far, her favorite name is Mom. Although, after breaking her leg in a skiing accident, she kind of walks like a pirate, so if she ever does change her name, it will be probably be to Blackbeard. She kind of likes Blackbeard.
