When Jamie Foxx released his first album in 1994, he was a star on In Living Color with a decent-sized following who declared, "No, really, he can sing -- he's alright!" A decade later, Foxx was a major movie star who had impressed Clive Davis enough to be offered a new recording deal. Though he didn't release any albums during the intervening years, Foxx was determined to stay active in music and collaborated with Adina Howard, Gladys Knight, and Melvin Riley. He appeared on the Any Given Sunday soundtrack, made a minor breakthrough on Twista and Kanye West's "Slow Jamz," and then became a superstar with his portrayal of Ray Charles in Ray. Just when it seemed like he'd spend the remainder of his recording career as a Ray Charles impressionist, he put together Unpredictable, his second solo album. Now packing major clout as a recording artist, Foxx receives big-name production help from Mike City, Timbaland, and Sean Garrett, along with guest spots from Twista, West, the Game, Ludacris, Common, Snoop Dogg, and Mary J. Blige. Though he fits somewhere between R. Kelly and Ginuwine, Foxx has more than enough personality and talent to defend his music against accusations of opportunism. He can belt and proclaim with authority, but he's best when he's smooth and mellow -- an asset, to be sure, since not many modern R&B vocalists trade in subtleties. Lyrically, Foxx is not subtle -- he's a freak who at least balances the crude ("Make you turn around and touch your toes/The next thing, girl, you already know") with the silly ("I know you're used to dinner and a movie/Why not be my dinner while makin' a movie?"). Unpredictable is actually predictable in that all but one of its tracks have something -- or a lot -- to do with baby making. Foxx drops the salaciousness near the end and proves that he can do teary eyed adult contemporary with as much ease as the bedroom material. [The album was also released in the DualDisc format.]

The CD was great from start to finish. I really love the track that he song in memory of his grandmother, I believe it is track 15. The entire CD is good from start to finish. (and there are many CDs out that you cannot say this about)

I got to give it to my man Jamie Foxx for holdin it down man. This cd has AMAZING tracks and his voice is definetly blessed by God. I love almost every track on this album. The only dissapointment is the lyrical taste which is pretty cliche when it comes to love makin but still the cd is AMAZING! It is a must buy for any R&B Fan!

I've always been into Jamie Foxx, he is a talented man, with a GREAT voice. I hate it took so long for him to get the recognition he deserves. I hope he's here for a while, Jaime if you read these reviews. I want to say keep up the good work and keep it coming, dont stop here. Remember to keep GOD first and If know one buys your cd. I will not bootlegged either, like some of these clowns. I love you.. Stephanie from Alabama. ps.. I still watch your old clips from In Living Color..... your hilarious.

When i first heard of J. Foxx as a singer i started to laugh to myself because i was used to seeing him as a comedian on TV. But this album changed my mind completely about him, the man can actaully sing. I think that any music lover should have this album in their collection, if they dont they dont love music.

It's hard to find a cd that you can pop into the disc player and not have to flip between four or five tracks because you're not feeling ALL of the songs on it...this is absolutely one of those "I can listen to EVERY track" cds. Jamie did his thing on this one so much so that you forget about Jamie Foxx "the movie star" while listening...all you hear is Jamie Foxx "very talented singer". I am thoroughly and completely impressed!!!!

Yo I'm gonna be real, I don't even like slow music like that but this CD is da truth. I like him as a actor, he can even sing but I didn't think he could put a CD out like this. I was really sleepin on cuz, but this joint woke me up. And like I said be careful cause u just migh make a baby off this badboy.

I have always known that Jamie had an incredible voice, and this cd is a grest testiment to his talent. His voice is fluid and powerful, yet still soft and seductive. I love the fact that so much of his personality shows through his lyrics, you gotta listen to it to know what I mean. And even though most of the songs are sexual, he is so creative that you dont feel like you're hearing the same song 10 different times(very impressive). Buy this cd for yourself and anyone who enjoys music for the grown and sexy, or just someone who appreciates a truly beautiful voice. I'm so PROUD of you Jamie!!!

You know how they say singers shouldn't act and actors shouldn't sing or rap? Jamie was meant 2 sing and act!! The CD is very good. Every song except for 2 has 2 deal with love/sex whatever you wanna call it but the songs are so nice. Only expect 1 song with a piano with it. I like all the songs. Good job Jamie.

Not for nothing, Jamie Foxx's album is HOT!! It is literally on fire! I think it should have came with the same Caution/Warning label that Chante` Moore and Kenny Latimore's CD had: WARNING! This CD can get you pregnant! Ladies, you can actually feel yourself ovaulating while listening to this CD, so be careful. Jamie definately made the music do what it do, baby!

If you love real R&B music, then this is the perfect album for you. Jamie's vocal range is amazing and I love the fact that he is really singing his heart out in these songs. His sense of humor really comes out in the songs too, but it's still grown and sexy. The dualdisc is great because it shows jamie singing accapella and it has a great photo gallery. This is one of the few albums i've ever had that you can just put on and let it ride til the end. I'm so proud of him, from Oscars to Grammys(which he'll definitely win next year for this terrific album)!!!!

Jamie Foxx is simply "amazing". I had the once in a lifetime opportunity of meeting him a couple of years ago and he has changed my life forever. God has blessed him and will continue to do so. He not only is an amazing artist he is an incredible human being. I love him!!!!

Each song is a hit for me. Individually, I liked each one. Collectively though, I felt the sex theme was too much. There were a few songs that weren't sex oriented, which allowed me to sit through a complete listening. The guest appearances are a nice touch and probably make the CD better than it would have been without them.

I wish we could do ZERO stars! Jamie Foxx is an EMBARASSMENT to Oscar voters! This guy did not deserve his oscar and this album SUCKS and is representative of the fact that he was a token oscar winner! This album is nothing more than warmed over 1990's-style "love making" tunes. Look at prior oscar winners: They have become classy actors, not token bit players like this soon to be Miami vice star. This stinks!

Jamie Foxx does a wonderful job here on his new album. Although his first album titled "Peep This" didn't do as well as this one it was very clear that Mr. Foxx had great talent. In the beggining many folks didn't believe that he could make the transistion from being a big time Oscar-winning actor to hot new artist but he definitely proved them wrong. This album is a must-have for anyone who is looking for that cool and mellow yet upbeat and fun grown-up music.
