"Unforeseen's main character, Thomas Prescott, had me laughing out loud and speed reading to the end. I read this book in a day, couldn't put it down. I read a lot of mystery thrillers and Pirog's unique style was refreshing. I found it to be funny, quirky, bawdy and yet he still pulled off the theme park thrill ride feeling of a great thriller and a well laid out mystery that left me guessing right up until the end. I look forward to reading more of his work and recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading something out of the usual cookie cutter type style that so many authors seem to have fallen into. Pirog captured my attention from the first page and never lost it. An unusual and perfect mixture of witty humor to balance a murder mystery. I found myself laughing out loud many times throughout the book. I love this writer's style. I'm now reading the second Thomas Prescott novel! LOVE this book!" --Tif Saucier

Grayer is allegedly dead, but only Prescott knows the truth, Grayer is alive and lurking in the shadows. On October 1st, the anniversary of the first murder, Tristen resurfaces, killing someone special from Prescott's past. Suddenly, it s deja vu for Prescott except this time the women closest to him begin to fall victim at the hands of Grayer. With the help of former flame, medical examiner Dr. Caitlin Dodds, and Eight in October author, Alex Tooms, Prescott must race against the clock to stop Tristen from completing his encore.

More Customer Reviews:
I really enjoyed this book right from the beginning. My first by this author- certainly not my last though. I loved the humor. One would think a book about serial murders would not be funny but the humor was done appropriately and added so much to the characters and the story line. About 85% through the book I started saying thing like "oh no!", "oh my God!", "no way!" and "this can't be happening!". By then the book was not getting put down for any reason! The ending was deliously mysterious, surprising & so fitting! I need more Thomas Prescott! --Free2ride

I read alot of Thriller books. I like authors like: Harlan Coben, Stuart Woods, Jeffery Deaver, Richard North Patterson. If you like these authors, you will love this author!!! --Connie Pribbeno

Lots of kudos to Nick Pirog for giving us a facinating new detective. Thomas Prescott, a wise-cracking ex-policeman fired from the Seattle police department, takes jobs as a consultant to the FBI in Philly. His current project is identifying and neutralizing a serial killer with a perchant for murdering the women in Thomas' life. Trying to follow the clues while also protecting the lives of his blind sister, his mournful ex-girlfriend and his sexy current girlfriend as well as the female students in the law-enforcement class he teaches, makes for a real roller-coaster ride for Thomas and the reader. Always one step behind the wily killer and his ax, Thomas must put a period to this psycho before he loses more women he cares about. A tense read, sprinkled with Thomas's witticisms and hair raising close calls. Add a new detective to Mike Hammer, Spencer, and Travis McGee! --C. Orelli

As a voracious reader, I am not easily impressed. And, I have to admit that I was hesitant about investing much time in a writer I had never heard of. In 5 pages I was intrigued, in 10 I was in it for the long haul. I could toss about lofty adjectives like dynamic, literary genius, & phrases like "pivitol work of American literature"..& I will, even if in jest, because I am a woman of my word. But beyond the book jacket homolies- Mr. Pirog has created a character who is so unbelievably crass and irreverant, I found myself forgetting he was a "character" at all. If you want to be transported to a magical realm, read Tolkien. If you just want to read a compelling story, fronted by a smart-ass ex-cop, that will make you laugh, roll your eyes in disbelief, and forget about sequestration and the papal conclave..then read this book. I think that you will be glad that you did. I Certainly was.

I actually liked that book a lot! Is it perfect ? No . There are some gaps in the story. I saw some people were complaining about the language. The language didnt bother me at all. I enyoy Pirog's writing style a lot. It's a fast and very entertaining read! The main character is a total ass but he's so hilarious and the language Pirog's used is a part of his character. The book is full of surprising twists and it keeps the reader interested. I will definitely check Pirog's other work. FYI I'm a picky reader. There are plenty of books I couldn't even finish reading and some of them had amazing reviews.

This is Nick Priog's first novel, and though he feels it may not be on par with his following works, I love it ever bit as much as I do, 3 AM, his second work of fiction. An exciting, scared my socks off, hard to put down, read that kept me guessing until the end! Can hardly wait for more Thomas Prescott thrillers! Well, I'm off to buy, Gray Matter. Thank you, Nick!

Read and LOVED this book. It's always fun to find a new author, and when I found Nick Pirog, just couldn't wait to read this book. Action and adventure at its best.

I couldn't get too far into it because it seemed written by a 15 year old boy. Lots of gratuitous bad language. Perhaps the story is good but I gave it a 1 star for the language.

Great book, highly recommend. This is the second book I've read by this author, and he's one of my favorites now. This book is suspensful, you don't know who the killer is for sure until the end. There are some very gory parts (bodies chopped in 30+ pieces). Lots of humor, the main character is very likeable and funny. Some romance and lots of suspense. For .99 cents this book is a bargain. You will not be disappointed!

I know, it's a mystery. But, the author's writing style is completely hysterical. I will never doubt when I see his name again, I know I will like any book this author writes. I would recommend this book to anyone, young or old. When you need a "getaway from your troubles" book, this one is it.

Nick Priog is an author I have never heard of and he wrote this was not his best writing, but it was a page turner. Looking forward to reading 3 A.M.

It took a little while to get into it but it was a good story. The ending was rushed though as if the author got tired and just wanted to quit. Didn't like that because it felt like there were some loose ends not cleared up.

This 278 page book has a lot of errors in it concerning Maine and nature. It is extremely violent, to the point of being disturbing, filled with blood, guts and gore. Cutting women into thirty pieces, ripping an unborn baby from the mother's womb and tossing the infant into a field, does not make good images. The profanity is horrible. Totally unneeded, it adds nothing to the story, except pity for the author, who is so uneducated he can not find decent words to use. I found this book incredibly boring. It seemed to take forever to read. I am shocked at all the positive reviews. Each to their, I guess. I am a prolific reader and while this is not the worst book I have ever read, it is on my authors to avoid list. There is some romance and sex. I did like the dog. I did not like thsoon e main character's smart remarks in every paragraph. This became annoying. I read to page 76, started skipping pages, read here and there, read the last three chapters and called it quits. This is a very noir novel. It is a predictable mystery, It is not for for the faint if heart or weak of stomach. It is not chick lit. For adults. AD

I picked up this book since it was free and was thoroughly impressed. The writing style was fun, descriptive, and walked the line between not taking itself too seriously, and working in enough plot twists to keep you on the edge of your seat. I highly recommend giving this book a spin and hope you too enjoy the unique journey! I know I didn't see it coming!

Fist book or not, I’m hooked. Nick Pirog is awesome. The cool thing about discovering a great author long after they started writing is having a bunch a reading material from them to dig right into! Unforeseen is a fun read, I can wait to get into the rest of his books. I just picked up Gray Matter and 3 a.m , here we go!!
