We love books like this one! They're excellent 'graze-read' books to keep on hand for kids and adults. Ultimate Oceanpedia is one of the better examples of one to boot. (It's almost as good as Discovery's Spaceopedia!) At 272 pages long, Ultimate Oceanpedia gives casual readers just enough information on various parts of the ocean to slake their thirst or ignite their need to know more. Ultimate Oceanpedia is separated into seven chapters: Oceans, Ocean Life, Ocean in Motion, Underwater Exploration, Along the Coast, and When People and Oceans Meet. My child and I loved the chapter on ocean life, as well as the one on underwater exploration. The information was so interesting! The pictures throughout the book really kept our attention as well. (Especially the pictures of the crabs and turtles!!) Ultimate Oceanpedia is aimed at ages 7-10, but really it's appropriate for ages 7-99. There were things I was familiar with, of course, but lots of stuff that I wasn't! For example, neither myself or my daughter were aware of the difference between El Niño and La Niña! We also had fun discovering the firefly squid, that parrotfish didn't have stomachs, and so much more! Between the great pictures and the bite-sized facts, both of us had trouble looking away. This is a wonderful book that belongs in libraries, classrooms, and in your home as well. Well put together, engaging, and easy to read, Ultimate Oceanpedia is educational and entertaining. You really can't ask for more. Disclaimer: We received a copy of this book from the publisher for review consideration.
