Overview

Someone to watch over Rose.

Losing her husband in a small plane crash last year has forced Rose to get on with her life. But when a storm rolls in, her world is shattered with the discovery of a body buried deep within her own walls. Now, as all fingers point in her direction, a mistress steps out of the shadows, along with a dark family scandal that might shed some light on motive. As people around her drop like flies, the real killer gets too close, and Rose seeks the help of the police officer who knocked on her door one rainy night a year ago.
Royce Sawyer is the cop who'd had to tell Rose that the love of her life was gone forever. Seeing the pretty blonde's struggles for the last year has been heart-wrenching, but when everyone starts to suspect the quiet wife has a dark side, Sawyer finds it hard to keep his personal feelings separate from his professional ones, especially when it's obvious that someone's out to stop him from getting to the truth.

The first two chapters I was not sure I was going to like this book. It started off with all this information but not much interaction with the characters. I will say this hang in there it got good, really good. This book has so many twists and turns right when you think you know who did it the author throughs you a curve ball out of no where and then you are back to guessing again. I loved how the love that Rose has in her heart for those she loves literally jumps off the pages you can almost picture her face in her mind. I really did not see the end coming I don't care how many clues the author dropped that was a shocker and so amazing. This book does have adult scenes in it but the author did it with enough info it might not offended anyone. This book was so good it is well worth the read. I received an advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley. I was under no obligation to post a review and have given my honest opinion.

A new author (for me) to add to my list. An enjoyable mystery and romance that will keep you guessing until the end. Rose Clayton’s husband, Isaac, has died in a small plane crash on his way home to Twisted Rock. She is devastated and doesn’t know how she will recover. Police Officer Royce Sawyer was one of the officers who came to tell her that her husband’s plane was lost in the Atlantic Ocean. Sawyer knows that Rose is struggling to resume her life and continues to help her with the restoration of her home. Overtime, he begins to have feelings for her. Rose is also attracted to Sawyer, but when a body is found in the walls of her home, is she a suspect in the murder? Royce is banned from the investigation as the identity of the body is revealed and others begin to die. Who is the killer and what are their plans for Rose? An intriguing murder mystery with romance between Rose and Sawyer intertwined through the story. I really enjoyed this book and always enjoy finding a new author. I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to give an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)

Action packed, sweetly sexy and emotionally thrilling mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat and just when I thought I had it all figured out a new heart pounding twist....... Loved it! Rose is a sweet, smart and artistic soul, living her dream life when it all comes to a grinding jolt with the loss of her one true love.... Sawyer is a strong, sexy, brooding cop that just moved to town after his wife left him for his best friend. He is also the one that had to deliver the worst news to Rose... So many thrilling and wonderful charters loved this story.

This was a good mystery. I liked the little twist at the end. Rose gets the news that her husband was killed in a plane crash and she just checks out of life for a while. One day she sort of wakes up and decides that she needs to live again. She finds out that her husband had a mistress and a child. They had put off having children because he wasn't ready. Then when she is having the house worked on, her husband's body is discovered in her basement. How could all of this happen? The man who told her that her husband died tries to help her get her life started again knows that she did not kill her husband. No matter what the mistress says. As Royce tries to solve the mystery, they get closer, but things get more deadly.
