My nephew actually got this for Xmas 2017, he is 17 years old and has never built anything like this before. His mom got me a different but similar set so we could build together. At over 40 years of age, I've been building Lego type toys all my life. A $100 Lego set takes me about all day, not difficult just time consuming. This set is similar to Lego Technic. These Vex Robotics sets literally took us all day. It was quite challenging, frustrating at times, it will make you want to quit. If you are not super careful and use to building stuff like this you will probably lose parts. I highly recommend using clear plastic trays when building. A part was missing in his, not sure if it came missing or he lost it, so we had to improvise by using left over pieces to get the job done. Once you are done, you have to do some fine tuning to make it work right. If you are easily discouraged this will make you pull your hair out. If you value exercising determination, patience, trouble shooting skills then this is great. If a kid builds this, that kid is a genius in my opinion. I encouraged him through the process, and in the end he said it was so satisfying to see the contraption work after all the work put in. He said it was relaxing as he turned the lever and watched the balls go up the 3 level contraptions, roll down and back into the feeder continuously. Together, it was a Holiday experience we will never forget!
