This version of travel Scrabble is a FAIL. While the box & playing board are very pretty and all of the required components are included, the attention to detail is absolutely lacking. The photo of the game with one side of the board partially opened seems to indicate that the letter tiles are held secure so that you can pack up, mid-game, and resume play elsewhere. This is NOT the case. The set includes a lovely, blue, faux-velvet bag for storage of letter tiles. No matter how much you flatten out the tiles within the bag, the thickness of the fabric plus the thickness of the tiles is greater than the depth of the compartment. My first attempt to close the compartment with the bagged letters result in some minor damage to the underside of the board. The construction is cheap. The racks are 3.25" wide - just wide enough to hold 7 tiles. In a standard Scrabble set, the rack is long enough to hold 9 tiles, which allows room for rearranging letters. The compartment interiors measure 3.75" x 9", yet the blank paper pad measures only 2.5" x 3" - could they not include a larger, official Scrabble scoring pad? The pencil is also ridiculously & unnecessarily small: 3.5" long... why not include a standard-size pencil?! There are MUCH BETTER versions of travel Scrabble out there. This one is sad & disappointing.
Luckily, I got this during a holiday sale, because it's not worth the regular price. My biggest problem is the poor attention to quality control; my particular set was not screwed together squarely, and the storage panels will not open if the game itself is laid fully flat. I wasn't looking for anything fancy like magnetic tiles or premium scorepads, but the fact that I can't get the existing materials out without risk of damage to the board makes it a less-than-deluxe game.
