Overview

Every woman lives by a code, whether she realizes it or not. It informs how she treats others and herself, how much she expects of herself, and how far she is willing to go in order to find success. But is the code we're living by truly helping us create the lives of purpose and fulfillment we desire? Or are we sacrificing the deeper things for mere achievement?

In this inspiring book, Sophia A. Nelson calls women to live out a powerful life code that will lead them to purposeful and successful lives. With the wisdom that comes from experience, Nelson reveals to women

· the true meaning of "having it all"
· how to take better care of their minds, bodies, and souls
· how to achieve professional excellence without compromising their values
· how to find lasting love and purpose in life beyond their accomplishments
· how to navigate the sisterhood of women, to build collaboration rather than competition
· how to heal from past hurts, rejection, and life's inevitable storms
· and much more

The Woman Code is a way of living, of navigating life's challenges, and of interacting positively with other women. It's a way of pursuing our dreams and our deepest desires. It reveals a universal and timeless set of principles of the mind, body, and spirit that help women balance the demands of work, home, family, and friendship. The Woman Code not only calls on women to practice purpose in their lives, it shows them how to do it with grace.

Some things seemed very common sensual but the author really put things in their proper context and made me look at things from a different perspective. I don’t generally like self help books but I would definitely recommend this to all of the women in my life.

I recently had the pleasure of meeting Ms. Sophia A. Nelson – Award winning author and journalist, a former White House reporter, former Congressional Committee Counsel, Motivational Speaker, Attorney and Leadership Trainer. She was on tour to promote her book The Woman Code and made a stop in Houston, Texas. I’ve heard her speak before on a webinar so I was familiar with her message to women and I did not want to miss the opportunity to see her in person. When I began reading the book I got stuck on Making Peace with Your Past. We all have a past. Some of the things I’ve endured in my past were out of my control. One of the hardest things to do is to let go of those things, forgive and move forward. Instead we tend to allow regret to take over and we blame our past for our inability to achieve or be successful. If this is you, you need to read this book! One of the first steps to making peace with your past is to realize you are stuck in the past. If you still fell anger, sadness or hurt when you remember certain life events or still feel pain or anger when a certain person’s name who hurt you is mentioned, or you are constantly thinking about what you missed out on, you are stuck in the past and you need to release it. The book is packed with relevant knowledge for today’s woman. I recommend it for your women’s group, book club or just for your own personal growth.

This book is a breath of fresh air. There are 3 key reasons I like this book, a lot. 1.) The author is very candid and real about her life and that she as a powerful professional woman does not have it all. It connected me to her as a human being. The introduction had me in tears. 2.) The book is spiritual but not religious. It is practical but not preachy. It is personal, yet global. 3.) This book addresses the things we as women know we need help in but don't talk about. It was well done. And much needed. Thank you Sophia A. Nelson for another great book. I loved your first one too! (ALM)

Sophia A. Nelson's book The Woman Code truly is the "key to unlocking a more fulfilling life."  Nelson begins with an explanation on how to use the book to get the most out of it.  This helpful guide is easily understood as is the entire book.  Each chapter begins with a quote that is inspiring, thoughtful and related to the code for that chapter.  There are 20 codes with full explanations and real world examples.  Nelson is open, honest and transparent as she reveals how these codes relate to her own life.  Each chapter concludes with thoughtful key ideas that help you connect the concepts to your own situations.  I found this book very useful and applicable to my life.  I am especially grateful for the chapter entitle, "Teach People How to Treat You."  I highly recommend this book to woman of all ages (there is even a chapter on aging gracefully.)  Sophia Nelson is an educated woman with many outstanding accomplishments under her belt.  I think that is what I liked most about this book is that she appears to have it all, and even she admits that we all need to be reminded about what matters in life.  Thanks for writing an excellent self-help book.  I highly recommend it for all women.

Sophia A. Nelson in her new book, “The Woman Code” published by Revell gives us 20 Powerful Keys to Unlock Your Life. From the Back Cover:  Your key to unlocking a more fulfilling life Every woman lives by a code, whether she realizes it or not. The Woman Code not only calls on women to practice purpose in their lives, it shows them how to do it with grace. Sophia Nelson believes that everything women need to lead the lives they want is already inside there inside sort of locked away. Ms. Nelson has twenty keys to unlock all that inner potential. The book is divided into 5 sections: The Personal Codes, The Emotional Codes, The Spiritual Codes, The Professional Codes and The Relational Codes. Each section contains four of each code. At the back of the book there is a study guide to be used with a small group or individually. I think this is a great resource for all women and would be a great gift for friends and family. Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from Revell.   I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own. I just finished reading The Woman Code by Sophia A. Nelson, which offers 20 Powerful Keys to Unlock Your Life. Sophia offers encouragement and challenges in this book to get you motivated for success. Women tend to look at their friends and husbands/boyfriends (or all men in general) for validation and purpose. We forget that there is so much more to us than who we marry or who we are associated with. In truth, God created us all as unique individuals with a purpose for our lives. We can only find that purpose when we dig deep inside and begin to know ourselves better than anyone else knows us and better than we know them. This requires balance, boundaries, priorities, and a relationship with our Creator. The book starts off talking about how we all live by a code whether or not we realize it. The code resides deep inside us and naturally governs what we do. We have values, morals, things that we will tolerate and things we will not. There are certain types of people we blossom around and certain types that deplete our soil. We have things in our past we would like to forget and things that we never want to forget. These things, good or bad, make us who we are but they don't have to define us.  Say you made a really bad mistake. Does that make you marked for life? You cheated on a test or you were responsible for getting someone fired from a job. Does that make you a cheater, liar, or enemy to all co-workers? No! What if you've had one failed relationship after another? Does that mean you will never have a successful one? No! What about the opposite? Say you did something wonderful. Maybe you were prom queen or you made the highest score on your SAT or graduated from college with the highest honors. Does that mean that for the rest of your life you can never fail? Are you put under pressure by others to achieve the greatest accolades for the rest of your life? No! All you need to do is what God created you to do. Your successes and failures are not labels you wear for the rest of your life. How can we avoid getting stuck in a trap of failures and pressure to succeed? We need to learn how to operate within the code of our lives. This includes our personal codes, emotional codes, spiritual codes, professional codes, and relational codes.  What happens when things get out of balance in our lives? The Code doesn't work right and we begin to focus on our failures, pressures, stresses, and anything else that threatens to take us down. The Woman Code is a book that can help women restore balance in their lives, help them learn to guard their hearts, and help them find and live within their purpose. It can help women be better wives, mothers, friends, daughters, sisters, co-workers, bosses, and ministers. If you are struggling to balance your life, I recommend this book to you.

The Woman Code By: Sophia A. Nelson Sophia is showing us 20 powerful keys to unlock our lives. makes a difference in life if we are bought up knowing our life is worth something, but growing up being told you are worthless you will more likely as adult feel like you have no value. What we think of ourselves is very valuable. First Code is value. There are 19 more keys discussed in this book. Peace, Treat, Authenticity, These are personal codes. Accountability, Guard, Resilient, Age, These are Emotional codes. Gossip, Apologize, Thoughts, Cut and untie, these are the Spiritual codes. Don't think like a man, Lead, Brave, Lift up, these are the Professional codes. Know your row, Practice love, laughter and loyalty, Courageous, and Reconnect, these are the Relational codes. Each of these codes Sophia will discuss what we should do for each one. Then there is also a nice study guide at the end of the book. I really liked this book. Would even make a great ladies study group book.

This book gives simple, no-nonsense advice on how women can improve their lives - as well as the lives of those around them in the process. I enjoyed Nelson's conversational, relatable style and the fact that the information is presented in easy-to-digest chunks.

I am so impressed with this book! It was exactly what I needed and the timing couldn't have been better. So often we go through life without having a sense of where we should be going or even where we want to go. Because of this, when we evaluate our life we devalue ourselves and our worth to society, we let people treat us with less respect than they should because we don't respect ourselves, we let others guide of instead of allowing our own self guide and lead us, and we feel so low we end up not uplifting others during our journey...because we don't have it in us to lift ourselves up! This book deals with these issues and so much more! It is definitely one you will highlight half of and go back to review often!

This book was true inspiration for it gave me the opportunity to rewrite my Code. Nelson outlined specific steps that not only allowed me to begin to walk it out, but helped me honor my life, embrace my story and make the necessary decisions to unlock the life I've always desired.

I just finished reading this book over the weekend. I am still amazed at how much different it was than what I thought it would be. I liked it for 3 reasons: 1. It was concise yet powerful. 20 codes only 12 pages or so each, with great take-aways and wisdom. 2. It was for women like me who are Christians, yet who are professionals in the world trying to balance our lives and faith. 3. It was honest, brave, compassionate and it taught me how to love myself first and I am 60 years old. I highly recommend this book to women of ALL ages, everywhere. It is truly a rare book for such a time as this as Ms. Huffington says in the cover blurb. Thank you Ms. Nelson for a great read! I cannot wait for it to come out in paperback so I can carry a copy in my purse.

I had a chance to review an early copy of this book in the late summer. I am a journalist for a major media outlet. My editorial board loved it too. What struck me was how broad, yet personal the author's message to women is. Truly cross-generational. Truly for ALL women. It transcends race, religion, region. I wasn't sure she could pull off a book targeted to ALL women about living life by a CODE. But Ms. Nelson had done it in a most excellent, compassionate, authentic, and sisterly way. I am a white woman in my late 30's--will be 40 next May. I have 3 sons, a husband. I am busy. Tired. Often worn out. This book helped me to find me again. I live in the southeastern USA. It's autumn. I started walking, making time to practice what the author calls: Silence, Gratitude, Acceptance each morning and it has shifted my energy. This book has EVERYTHING you ever wanted in a book as a woman. The codes are short but impactful. It is user friendly. I want it in paperback so I can carry it in my purse. The cover by the way is beautiful. To the author I want to say something: You live out CODE #15 Be Brave. Thank you for your heart (Code #6) and thank you for lifting the rest of us, ALL of us, as you climb (Code #17).
