Overview

Lacy Stoltz is an investigator for the Florida Board on Judicial Conduct. It is her job to respond to complaints dealing with judicial misconduct. A corruption case eventually crosses her desk. A previously disbarred lawyer is back in business, and he claims to know of a Florida judge who has stolen more money than all other crooked judges combined. And not just crooked judges in Florida. All judges, from all states, and throughout United States history. And now he wants to put a stop to it. His only client is a person who knows the truth and wants to blow the whistle and collect millions under Florida law. When the case is assigned to Lacy, she immediately suspects that this one could be dangerous. Dangerous is one thing. Deadly is something else.

I think this was one of Grisham's best in the last few years. Good character development and good story.

I've yet to read any of his books and find them as good as his first one. However, after a slow start this one reached out and grabbed me. It kept reeling me in until by the time I was half way through I couldn't put it down. Keep on writing them, John, we'll keep reading them.

Compelling from start to finish.

Another hit

Straightforward without the whiplash plot developments some of his earlier books had. Wish he had confirrmed that Junior was released and cleared.

The book is - good. It's not the worst, its not the best. Are we sure the reviews that rave about this book aren't plants by the publisher?

What a disappointment. Read more like a long newspaper account or maybe a true crime book.

I was looking forward to this book as I am a fan of the author. I'm sorry, but The Whistler was a bit of a disappointment. I was never on the edge of my chair and there were no parts that made reading on urgent. The main character was dull and uninteresting. I know there are peaks and valleys in writing and story development, This was a quite a deep valley. I hope the next book is a peak!

I have read so many of John Grisham's novels, and this one stands out. Love the humor in "Skipping Christmas".

I have read all of John Grisham's books and this one was absolutely boring. Not worth spending money on - the ending was even worth printing.

I'm a real fan of the author, however, this book is not one of his bests. The plot moved very slow & the ending was somewhat expected. Briefly the plot: crooked court judge assisted donors get what filthy lucre they could harvest in kind, she received certain benefits. An investigator was involved in finding the truth. Not much suspense & not much drama. Hopefully by his next book, he can get back in the groove. If fact, his last two books were not one of his bests. Hopefully he can reintroduce himself to his muse.

I'm so disappointed and cannot get through this amateur work. I really doubt that John Grisham is the author.

I'm a fan, so I put up with it. They only exciting part was the Whistler trying to avoid the hit man. Oh well I still plan to read Camino Island

Joh Grisham mailed this one in. With so many good, and a few great books over his career, I felt this one was just not up to his previous works. I always look forward to reading his books but this one let me down.

Grisham is usually pretty good. This was definitely his most boring book. It took me forever to finish it because there wasn't anything to keep me interested. Snorefest zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

This was the first book of his that I skimmed.

I miss the awe when I read Mr Grisham earlier books. Sycamore row was the closest to his earlier work. The whistler started good but ran out of steam and I found myself skimming over the pages. Characters were one dimensional and cartoonish and the end too tidy.
