This is a beautiful story of fraternal twins who are so different but are very close. Story of two women who learn to change, grow and finally find true love. The characters all are special in their own way but you especially have to love Bianca! I loved the book! I have been reading Susan Mallery’s books for years and she doesn’t disappoint!!!

Susan Mallery has once again written another amazing book! The Summer of Sunshine and Margot is a delightful, stand-alone story about two sisters, fraternal twins, Sunshine and Margot Baxter. Although these sisters seem very different, they are both beginning a new journey, both hoping to find true happiness by making better choices in their lives and ultimately hoping to find true love. After being deserted by their mother at a young age and raised by their great-grandmother, a beauty queen consultant, these two sisters forge a strong bond of love and commitment, always being there to support each other. Unfortunately, the Baxter women have never been known for their choices in men. “We are the Baxter sisters. We can’t seem to escape our destiny.” They come from “a long line of women with disasterous relationships and no staying power.” This summer these two sisters are determined to change their destiny! Thus, begins the Summer of Sunshine and Margot! Sunshine is a free spirit with a sunny, optimistic attitude. She has worked as a nanny for many years and is wonderful with children. She’s organized and regimented with the children she works with but much to her dismay those characteristics don’t carry over to her personal life. Unfortunately, her personal life is a mess! She’s curvy and sexy and has often runaway from life and her responsibilities for a few weeks of bliss with the wrong guy. After each relationship ends, and they always end, she is left with nothing. She’s come to realize that in the process she’s also hurt many of the children in her care. Sunshine has hated herself for making the same mistakes over and over again and wants to change. This time she wants a real relationship. She’s tired of men looking at her body and only wanting one thing. She’s determined to find someone that sees the real her and she wants and needs to become a better person. With this renewed focus, she registers for college and takes a job as a live-in nanny for a newly widowed father-Declan and his adorable son-Connor. After losing his wife to cancer, Declan has been focused on being a good father and making sure that Connor is okay. All that matters to him is Connor. However, Declan is battling a lot of pent up feelings of betrayal and is having a hard time letting go of his anger. He has been “angry for so long, he wasn’t sure who he would be if he let it out. He had to pretend everything was fine for Connor’s sake,” With Sunshine taking loving care of Connor, Declan begins to see that Connor is starting to heal and maybe it’s time for both of them to move on. Sunshine’s wonderful personality and optimistic outlook help both of them to begin enjoying life again. As she continues to put her job first, Sunshine finds herself being drawn to this little family and ultimately finds everything she was hoping for. Margot is a stylish, conservative and very put together! She is very professional and works as an etiquette coach helping people learn to navigate different and often difficult situations. She knows all about proper behavior and in her professional life she is very organized. However, in her personal life she’s upended her life and risked her career for the past 5 years over loving the wrong man. “I’ve been stupid over and over again about the same man.” Like her sister, Margot is determined to make better choices. Margot is hired as an etiquette coach to assist Bianca Wrey, a former movie star, fit into her fiancées world as a diploma

I’ve never heard of a modern day etiquette coach, but what a wonderful idea. I can only imagine there are a lot of people, especially those who travel extensively, that would really benefit from etiquette lessons about different countries. Margot’s job was endlessly fascinating for me. It seemed part Emily Post part psychologist. So, reading about that was a lot of fun. The overall story of this book was very enjoyable. A lot of summer fun with a light hearted, happily ever after. The characters were very cute, but lacked depth for me. Actually, that seemed to be my problem with most of the book. It didn’t go deep enough for me. As you can see by the title, this is a story about two different women. Sisters who love each other, support each other, and have totally different lives, except when it comes to love. Apparently, they make very similar mistakes and decisions about men. But, that is going to change with the coming summer for both of them. I truly believe this should have been two books, because each story left me wanting so much more, especially in the ending. I wanted way more from the ending. The sisters shared so much throughout the book, with their dinners and workouts. They talked through their mistakes, emotions, fears, dreams and secrets, to the point that their relationship was my favorite in the novel. When it came down to the most difficult time in their romantic and professional lives, we don’t even get to see them interact. In fact, an entire week is left out of the book. At this point, it feels like we are rushing head first into an ending, that while satisfying in many aspects, needed more exploration. This is a romance novel, so let’s not pretend we aren’t reading for romance scenes and a happily ever after. If I wanted heartbreak, I could consult real life easily enough. So, I wasn’t upset about how fully the ending tied everything into a neat bow. I just wanted to experience more of it. One of the couples even gets engaged before their first kiss. After all of the buildup, I wanted to stay in the moment longer with these characters. Maybe there could be a follow-up??? Please don’t get me wrong, I really liked this book. If I didn’t, I would have wanted a longer story or even two separate books. I will definitely be reading more by Susan Mallery. The romantic scenes were spot on, with just enough tension that the reader can feel the mounting sexual desire. This book will not take long for anyone to read and is great for a summer afternoon and a glass of sweet tea. * Special thanks to Susan Mallery, HQN Books, and TLC Book Tours for providing a copy of Summer of Sunshine and Margot in exchange for an honest review.

These sisters are very different and I love how we feel that in their stories.  Sunshine's is bigger, louder, and messier but she is oh-so-appealing for it.  Your heart just goes out to her as she struggles to be the person she wants to be and not who she used to be.  Declan and Connor are a perfect match for her - if only they'd met under different circumstances.  Unfortunately they didn't so there's going to be some struggles and a lot of bumps along the way.     Margot is more formal & reserved and her story matches, except for Bianca.  Matching these two brings out some wonderful comedic moments and I only wish we'd had even more of Bianca's oddly compelling presence.  Unfortunately some of her more risque choices over the years haven't gone over as well, especially with Alec.  It helps explain a lot of why he's the way he is, and why Margot is a good match for him.  If you are looking for a fun read to throw in your bag for a trip to the beach or the pool, this is definitely it.  The Summer of Sunshine and Margot follows the sisters as they fall in love and we effortlessly flow between the two & the people in their lives.  It never felt disjointed (as multi-characters books can) as we get to know everyone and watch as their connections deepen. **Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**

The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery Harlequin Books June 11, 2019 Fiction, beach read, romance 386 pages Rating: 4/5 I received a digital copy of this ARC by NetGalley and Harlequin Books in exchange for an unbiased review. Fraternal twins Margot and Sunshine Baxter are the best of friends. Margot works as an etiquette coach following in her grandmother’s footsteps. She is meticulous and proud of her success until she takes on a difficult client. Margot is up for the challenge until she realizes her client is a former actress with a colorful history. Alec is Bianca’s son who hires Margot to coach his mother who is preparing to marry a diplomat. Bianca fears her outgoing manner may embarrass her fiancé. Sunshine is trying to find her way in the world after numerous setbacks. She is determined to change her old impulsive lifestyle which has only led to heartbreak. She decides she wants to go to college which is an abandoned dream she has always regretted. Sunshine has always found work as a nanny although her work history has been less than stellar. Again, she is determined to not allow a man to sweep her off her feet only to abandon her. She is fortunate to gain employment as a nanny for a recently widowed father, Declan. His son Connor forms an immediate bond with Sunshine which allows him to overlook her unreliable work history. This is a wonderful of story about two sisters navigating through life with the support of each other. The story is one of love, family, and dedication. The characters are enjoyable and although you can guess how the story ends, you are hoping for the happy ending they deserve.

Favorite Quotes: Just so you know, I’m feeling especially pouty tonight. If you hang out with me, I’ll whine and be unreasonable. “I’m the firstborn. Responsibility is my middle name.” “You’re firstborn by eight minutes.” Margot sighed. “I did love being an only child.” From her perspective, there was only one surefire way to get him to back off. She offered a regretful smile and lightly touched his arm. “I would love to only things are a little contagious…”She waved her fingers toward her crotch. “Down there, if you get my meaning. It’s not horrible but the rash can really burn.” Steven shifted away from her so quickly he nearly lost his balance and fell off his chair. We’ve all done things we’re ashamed of. The point is to do better when we know better. My Review: Margot and Sunshine Baxter were fraternal twins and I adored them and want to be in their circle of friends. Both had started new jobs and had each reached an epiphany over their history of poor choices in their previous relationships with each sister actively striving to improve their lot in that department; if only the past were so easy to leave behind. The characters were beguiling and endearingly quirky with unique yet relevant challenges to accommodate. The storylines were well-crafted, engaging, cleverly amusing, and expertly paced. Ms. Mallery’s wordcraft is well-honed and she certainly knows what she is doing as I have easily fallen into a refreshingly pleasurable state of rapt entertainment with each of her lovely books that I have been lucky enough to peruse.

A tale of two sisters, The Summer of Sunshine and Margot, is fun, with an underlying side of messed up childhoods. Twins Margot and Sunshine Baxter couldn't be any more different. Margot is a life coach, of sorts, for people who need crash courses in the etiquette in, say, Spain. She teaches them to fit in and thrive. Margot is hired by aging movie star Bianca, to "remake" her into a diplomat's wife. Bianca has a reputation for outrageous behavior, and has lived by her looks all her life. She does NOT understand that, understated can be sexy, too. All she sees is boring. The main perk Margo sees in taking the Bianca job is the refurbished monastery home she gets to live in while she works. The second perk is Bianca's gorgeous son, the academic Alec, who hides his childhood hurts behind his studious nature. Can Margot help him realize that caring for someone else doesn't have to hurt? Sunshine has a history of falling for the wrong men. Her job as a nanny is perfect. It is by nature short-term and she is great with kids. Her references say, "She's a great nanny if you can get her to stay." She has no desire to be "that girl" again. She's going back to college at 32, and she's found a job with a single dad and his son, that fits her to a T. She will not mess this up. Even if her boss is insanely hot, and his son is completely adorable, and she can SO see herself as the woman in both of their lives. Repeat, she will NOT mess this up! Can Declan convince her that she has more staying power than she gives herself credit for? Wow! Susan Mallery has done it again! I loved these characters but if I had to choose my favorites, they would be Sunshine and Bianca. Sunshine has a gift for sarcasm that is fun and some of her "let downs" for the college boys who try to ask her out are hilarious. Bianca, and all of the Bianca stories that Margot hears secondhand, are beyond outrageous. I can see her ending up with a picture or three every week in the Enquirer, or some other gossip rag. She is a hoot. I also really liked Alec and Declan. Each was perfect for his chosen Baxter twin. All in all, The Summer of Sunshine and Margot was a fun story that will keep Mallery fans clamoring for more.

I loved The Summer of Sunshine and Margot! This was the perfect summertime read for me and the characters are all so great. I did not want to finish the book because I didn't want it to end. I would love to see these characters come back to visit us again.

THE SUMMER OF SUNSHINE AND MARGOT is a charming romance about two fraternal twin sisters who are ready to make a change. Margot has decided that she is done with her on-again, off-again boyfriend of the past, Dietrich. She works as an etiquette teacher, typically with helping people understand other/new cultures, but her newest assignment is an older actress, Bianca, who is marrying a politician and wants to better fit in to his life (he doesn't want her to change, but she would like to improve herself). Bianca is living with her son, Alec, in his converted monastery house, and Margot is going to live with them while she works with Bianca. Sunshine is starting anew. In the past, she often fell for guys in relationships that burned out quickly but which made her leave her nannying jobs on a dime. She is determined to hold out for the real thing, hold a good nanny position, and go to college to earn a degree. She is a nanny for a boy, Connor, whose mother died a few months prior, and she lives with him and his father, Declan. This book develops in a really natural way with both sisters and their story getting adequate space and feeling like complete stories. They complement each other really well and weave into the whole book beautifully. I absolutely fell in love with both sisters and their stories throughout the pages. The romances were slow-building, which was perfect for the story and really allowed all of the characters to be built well first. This is a perfect summer/beach read, and I highly recommend for anyone looking for an engaging women's fiction with the right touch of characterization and romance. Mallery has crafted a fantastic story with characters that leap off the pages. Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher through netgalley. All opinions are my own.

Absolutely loved this book! I love when an author gives us a romance book but also gives us so much more. In this book not only did we see a romance blossom well 2 actually but we also saw the connection between two sisters. They have different personalities but they are great. We get to see how the sisters overcome situations and mature throughout the book. Another 5 stars for this author.

#Susan Mallery's woman's fiction books are filled with witty romance, heartwarming heart bonds and family fixable drama..Summer of Sunshine and Margot doesn't disappoint. Being a twin myself, I was captivated to read this "twin story" . Their twinhood bond always remains no matter the distance between them. Even tho one is 8 minutes older, those minutes do make a difference in each one having their own personality, I know..because Im 8 minutes younger than my identical twin sister and we are two seperate women with different ideas and likes and dislikes. Sunshine and Margot , both with broken past lovelifes and abondonment by their mother when very young, they still have hopes and dreams they follow .Raised by their grandmother, they are able to grow up with two seperate careers and independent in their own ways. One a nanny, one a beauty pageant etiquette teacher. .Sunshine, the more outgoing sister, pretty and poised and can attract a man easily...she wants a serious commitment now & dedicates herself to change her past abondonment issues in her nanny jobs ,and not to run away again when a man has used her. She realizes she hurts the children emotionally because she secretly leaves them when she is hurt by a man. She moves in a new house with 8 yr old Conner, son of widower Declan, who he too is trying to resolve his hurt with his not so ex wife, who he forcefully had to remain with because she was dying. Sunshine also returns to college, where she is struggling to pass but wants to succeed and at the same time, She is making sure Connor's daily needs are met , including with his love of ants. Declan sees alot of dedication to his son and enjoying what she does to make Conner happy and he also finding he feels happy too. Sunshine doesnt take the hint from him ; he is falling in love with her and yet he is trying to stay distant and not scare her away. She has become more loyal now and wouldnt dream of hurting Connor when she finds attracted to Declan too. An incident between she and Declan, the phone sex...makes her want to leave....again. Margot. the conservative twin, has her hands full with a new project , to train the free spirited soon to be 60 yr old Bianca ,an occassional movie actress still ,has to fit in a new life....soon marrying diplomat Wesley. Margot feels Wesley should just accept his fiancee as she is, but after seeing Bianca's antics and ways, she will need to be more toned down around her new life once she marries into it. Bianca ends up teaching Margot a few lessons of her own about love when it comes to her son,Alec. They live in the monastry gardens mansion . Alec isnt too happy that his mother hires Margot.Yet he has some hope that his mother can become more polite ,staid & likeable. He expects failure. His mother has money, also flipped investment properties. Margot does research on this family, and is more interested in Alec's life. A scholar who inherits the monastery & turns it into a research center of written ancient works. Its very interesting reading about the monastry gardens in the middle of Pasadena and Susan did a well research of them. I love gardening,so this part of the story was wonderful. Alec finds out a secret about his mother Bianca, and why she is how she is. Perhaps she is the key to helping him discover his own lovelife and not to let it slip away. Margot's decision leaving the mansion, and he realizes how much he misses her. Enjoyed another hit!

I just loved The Summer of Sunshine and Margot by Susan Mallery. Sunshine and Margpt are two sister longing to change their lives. Both sisters have a history of choosing the wrong man and ruining their careers for romance. Neither sister knows that this will be the summer that changes their lives. Margot and Sunshine will have to risk everything to fulfill all their dreams. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Susan Mallery creates wonderful engaging characters that captivate you every time.

With an interesting take on twin/sister story, Susan Mallery shares the stories of Margot and Sunshine and their challenges with life and love. After finishing this story I called my sister and told her she had to immediately read it. Throughout the book I could identify so clearly with so many aspects of both of their lives but those differences were so strong as well and I felt like my sister identify with it all too. A great summer read and as always a book where Mallery draws you in and leaves you wanting to know more about the community to which you are introduced.
