If you enjoy American History, this book is for you. The book is a nonfiction book that explains how America began using oil and the events around how it started booming at Spindletop, Texas. Personally, I enjoyed the tale of Pattillio Higgins and how he never gave up his search for “black gold,” even when mocked because of it. If you enjoy interesting American history, this book is for you, although it doesn’t have anything special about it. The book is a remarkably short 60 pages long. If you do not enjoy factual books, I would not pick it up. It does, however, have a redeeming quality of being not only about the gusher, but about the oil industry as a whole, past and present.
