#1 New York Times bestselling author John Flanagan returns to the world of Ranger's Apprentice, continuing the story arc that began in The Royal Ranger: A New Beginning, starring fan favorites Will and Maddie.

Picking up where The Royal Ranger: A New Beginning left off, this next installment continues the story arc featuring young apprentice Maddie and the student-turned-master, Will Treaty. The time has come for the next generation to assume the mantle and become protectors of the kingdom of Araluen.

After passing her third-year assessment as a ranger's apprentice, Maddie is called home to Castle Araluen. Forced to keep her ranger training a secret, Maddie feels trapped by her role as a princess of the realm and longs to find a way out. But there are whisperings of a new threat to the kingdom. The mysterious Red Fox Clan, a group of anarchists all donning fox masks, have threatened Castle Araluen and question Princess Cassandra and Madelyn's succession to the throne. Will they succeed in unseating Cassandra and Madelyn and take the throne for themselves?

Internationally bestselling author of the Ranger's Apprentice and Brotherband series, John Flanagan returns in the captivating follow-up to The Royal Ranger: A New Beginning. Perfect for fans of Tolkien, Redwall, and Game of Thrones!

This book was so good; oh, my gosh!!! I could see the plot developing from like 40 pages in but I still loved turning the page to read on, and your solution to the "issue " is also brilliant and a great mesh of your two series. Please, PLEase, PLEASE release your next book soon because I've been following the two series for over 6 years and I still love it and can't wait for more!!

THE RED FOX CLAN is another steadily-building plot towards a very climatic ending, with characters fans of the series have come to love with the addition of the new Ranger Apprentice, Maddie. With lessons ahead for Maddie to learn, she finds herself in a desperate position and in need of all her resources. Another exciting addition to the series and a story that readers will keep turning pages to finish. This story follows two years after the last book. Maddie is a little older with her skills more finely tuned as she's completed three years of training now under Will Treaty. She's supposed to be on break, visiting her parents, but things don't turn out quite as planned. She's mostly on her own and has to depend on what's she learned to save herself, her mother, and her kingdom. I did miss her and Will's interactions, which were quite entertaining in the last story, but I also appreciated seeing Maddie work on her own and developing more as a character. There are two storylines, one on Maddie and then one on her father and Gilan, as they both work separately against the Red Fox Clan. The ending is a huge cliffhanger. If I didn't have the third book in hand, I'd be upset, but instead I'm ready to drop back in to this fantasy world and find out what happens next. In the end, was it what I wished for? This was another engrossing story with great characters and a riveting plot. Highly recommended for fans of the series and fantasy fans in general. I'm happily looking forward to more from this series. Content: Some violence, but clean. Source: I received a complimentary copy from the publisher, which did not require a positive review nor affect my review in any way.

Absolutely loved it. A bit annoyed with the cliffhanger at the end. (Spoil Alert) Can't wait for the next book! John Flanagan writes amazing books that make you feel like you're in the stories with the characters, and keeps you in suspense and turning the pages.

I really liked red fox clan, (SPOILER ALERT). The plot was great, with an uprising headed by a former captain of the guard. The only annoying part was the cliffhanger at the end, with horace and gilan away from castle araluen and cassandra stuck in a tower with dimon assaulting her and maddie. I really look forwards to the next book in the series
