as a not-so-recent college grad, I still struggle with food shopping. It's just so much easier to grab the cheap, frozen pizza than it is to find the raw pizza dough, the fresh organic, pesticide-free tomatoes, the cruelty-free cheese, etc. The struggle is real. I went in to this book hoping to clear up some skepticism I have to food labels with "organic" and "grass-fed" and "free range". I...was not wrong. There's a lot of trickery that goes into food packaging to camouflage words like "sugar"--the REAL culprit, not trans fats!--or the different waxes and treatments put on imported produce to make them look better at the cost of taste and freshness. I'm not going vegan or even vegetarian, but this book is a great guide to help even the laziest person *points to self* become more food conscious. It'll even help you save some money by helping you avoid the gimmicks. If you like food, and care about food, this guide is a great idea!
