I got to share this marvelous book with my daughter for free, courtesy of the BookLook Bloggers program. First glance: This book follows one of the most assuring verses in the bible for people who worry or are ever anxious about their futures: "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.:-- Jer. 29:11 This is a book geared towards young children of toddler to grade school age. My thoughts: Parker uses bright and simple illustrations and an easy cadence that kept my one year old's attention. She not only enjoyed it, but I loved it too. I'm not sure if it's possible to spoil a picture book, so I'll only say that I really liked the creative interpretation of how god plans for each of us on one of the pages. This is a book I can see reading again and again, for the great message that everything will be okay no matter what you choose to be in life, and for the sheer enjoyment of reading this. Honestly, I would love to read this book 10 times in a row far over reading 'animals on the farm' 10 times in a row.

One of my favorite bible verses has always been Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord,”plans to prosper you and not to harm you plans o give you hope and a future.” This is the book about that verse. Written by Amy Parker and Illustrated by Vanessa Brantley-Newton this book is based on the bible verse written from Jeremiah, the book explains that we are all called for a different purpose. Some of us will work in a hospital, or the zoo or even be and entomologist! The book explains with a little rhyme and very colorful illustrations how God designed each of us for our specific plan. I love the facet that the book is written like a letter from God to the reader, instilling the idea that the plan is in place and has been from birth! What a great story and message for little ones to hear and read that there is a plan for our life and that we have the tools to accomplish that plan.

I always find it nice to read a children's book that speaks to my own heart while entertaining my kids. The Plans I Have For You does exactly that. Amy Parker reminds us all that no matter what our occupation is be it stay-at-home mom or physician God has a plan for us that is perfect and complete. We like to say that we are all missionaries but when it comes down to it, it doesn't always feel that way. In an engaging rhyming verse we are prompted to look at occupations as part of our God appointed destinies. What a wonderful thing to instill in our kiddos that the desire to work in a certain field no matter what it is pleases God when we do it for His glory. As an artsy person I loved Vanessa Brantley-Newton's mixed media type of illustrations. All the colors and patterns and whimsical faces combine to make the book a feast for the eyes while it is ministering to your heart. This would be a delightful read aloud for your entire family. Every home library would benefit from the contents of this adorable children's book. I received a copy of this book to facilitate my review.

The theme of the book is that God has great plans for children and the book details so many options of greatness for kids. It focuses on all kinds of jobs and career fields. It's a sweet book that would be a great one to share with your children at the beginning of the school year.

This adorable book takes Jeremiah 29:11 and brings it to life. Children are depicted in magnificent full-color images of them following their dreams. Some are doctors, some work at zoos, some are scientists, some are pilots, and so forth. It is emphasized that each child is unique and special and that no path is superior to any other. So, a doctor is just as loved as a store clerk in God's eyes. What's nice is that there are kids of all ethnicity shown. Stereotypes are broken as readers see that anyone can be whatever God as in store for them. This hardcover book is a treasure for children and adults alike that should be read over and over.

What a sweet little book for any age honestly. We are being told a story by God who is saying that at birth he has a plan for everyone. We are all put on a path to follow our destines and we all have reason to be alive. This book is perfect for young children. The pages are large and lavish with colorful images. The rhyming scheme is quite catching and the diversity is visible on the pages. So any child can read this book and be inspired to do anything they put their mind too.
