A cluttered kitchen can lead to stress and frustration. On the flip side, a poorly stocked kitchen can prove just as challenging. Whether you have too much equipment or not enough, an ill-equipped space can waste your time and undermine the joy of cooking.

The Kitchen Paraphernalia Handbook is a home chef’s guide to getting more done with less. It features an A-to-Z guide of kitchen utensils, tools, and gadgets, and each item is accompanied by more common tools and easy techniques that can accomplish the same tasks.

Equal parts practicality and creativity, this guide makes it easy to thin out overflowing drawers and make the most out of a few crucial tools.

Handy conversions for various sizes of baking pans and dishes are included to help any recipe turn out right. The guide even incorporates measurement charts to take the guesswork out of substitutions.

The Kitchen Paraphernalia Handbook is a thorough guide to establishing a lean and efficient kitchen that makes the most out of essential tools by getting rid of those single-use items that take up valuable space. It’s time for kitchen gadgets to earn their keep.

There are thousands of different items available for your kitchen. All of the manufacturers would have you believe that they are all unique and strictly required. No other device can do with theirs does. But in the Kitchen Paraphernalia Handbook: Hundreds Of Substitutions For Common And Uncommon Utensils, Gadgets, Tools, And Techniques you will find suggested substitutions for many of these devices. A book like this would come in extremely helpful. With many people choosing to downsize, and the popularity of tiny homes, and RV living, a lot of kitchen space has to be sacrificed. With less kitchen space, you want to pare down the devices you have to the bare minimum. Knowing which devices can perform multiple functions is key to making the most of the space you have. Space aside, not everyone can afford to buy every gadget out there. This will also be helpful to those of us who don’t want to have to go out and buy a new gadget when one lonely recipe calls for it. Being able to substitute with what you have on hand is more convenient and economical. The book includes a list from A to Z, detailing each item and the substitutions for it. Unfortunately, there are no photographs included of these items, so if you’re unfamiliar with their proper names it might be hard to determine which device is which. Includes More Gadgets Than You Can Imagine Even without the pics, it is an extremely extensive list and covers items I had never heard of before. I was actually surprised at how many different devices you can use to substitute for a Spiral Slicer. Many of the substitutions are very innovative, and many are something that I would have never thought of myself. After the list of Kitchen Items And Their Substitutions comes the Baking Dish Equivalence List, Baking Pan Equivalence List and US Volume And Liquid Equivalence. All very helpful. Overall this is an excellent book. As a reference book, I believe it will be invaluable to anybody. I would love to see it redone with pictures of each item and turned into a hardcover book. Perhaps with a section suggesting the “must have” items for a prepared kitchen. That would be the kind of book welcomed in every kitchen and would make a terrific housewarming gift for someone moving out on their own for the first time. Reviewed for RecipesNow!
