The book the High School Survival Guide by Adam Palmer, Palmer addresses some of the most common issues faced by high school students. The chapter are broken up into questions and answers from Palmer as well as other high school students.  Because he is very religious, Palmer justifies the majority of his analysis of the topics with verses from the Bible. While I appreciated many of the metaphors these verses provided, many also seemed to provide minimal support his arguments. For example, when he is giving advice about abstaining from drugs and alcohol he says, "So why should you steer clear? Why should you swim against the current and say 'no'? Because I said so. Also: God said so" (Palmer 125). Reasoning like this has no real value to me and people who do not believe in God. However, agreed with much of his opinion-based analysis. It was just hard for me to relate to his religious reasoning as an agnostic. I would recommend this book to anyone who is very religious, specifically Christians and Catholics. For anyone else, it will be difficult to relate to.
