CHAPTER 1

Once upon a time, there was a tomcat simply named, Cat. Cat lived in a palace with the Royal Princess Renna. Cat and Princess Renna grew up together. They played for hours on end. They played tag on the meadow outside of the castle.

Cat loved to chase a ball of yarn in the royal sitting room.

He loved canoeing with the princess. and hiking in the hills.

But as Princess Renna grew older, princes started to seek her favor. Princess Renna's attention to Cat grew less and less. She played ping-pong with Prince Paul in the royal game room......

She played Ouiji with Prince George.

She ran a runner's trail with Prince Richard..... and planted juniper trees with Prince John.

Princess Renna and Prince John grew quite fond of each other. They spent more and more time together.

The King had announced that soon Princess Renna and Prince John would be married. Cat was GREEN! All over! Totally! "I have got to be her prince!" exclaimed Cat. He decided to ask the princess how to become a prince, so he too could impress her.

Cat finally got some time to hike with Princess Renna. She stopped to sit on a rock. Cat jumped right in her lap. "Ah! The perfect time to talk with the princess," he thought.

"Princess Renna, I would like to be your prince," stated Cat.

"OH NO, CAT! YOU CAN'T DO THAT!" chuckled the princess.

"Why not?" asked Cat.

"Princes do not get fleas, Cat!" she replied, stroking his chin.

"Please, please, princess! I'll do anything. I can do it! I can do it!" begged Cat. "I'll take lessons. You can teach me!"

Princess Renna devised a plan. "OK, Cat. It's getting dark. Meet me in the dining room for dinner. We'll have our first lesson there."
