Great insight of the game from A to Z.
The Art of Doubles is a look at the California doubles way of playing, as author Pat Blaskower puts it. This book seems geared towards the 4.0 and above doubles specialist. Blaskower offers many good strategies and mental reminders to practice and put into play. She offers very specific instructions on where to best place the ball in a multitude of situations. Various formations are discussed, along with their strengths and weaknesses. At times, Blaskower gets a bit vague in explaining her strategies. The diagrams can also be confusing at times. But these weak points are kept to a minimum, and overall, the book is still a great guide to taking your doubles game to a more advanced level. Drills are also offered in the back of the book, to help you practice the situations you'll face. The Art of Doubles is a must read for anyone hoping to take their doubles game to a more advanced level.
Awesome book for the beginning doubles players! Several ladies on our team started reading this book and we ended up going to USTA Nationals!
I found this book to be very specfic in it's presentation of things that I could to improve my tennis game in both doubles & singles. The author presented ideas/actions that I found useful in trying to improve both my understanding of where & when to take a particular action or stroke & how to take that action.
