Overview

A special 25th anniversary edition of the extraordinary international bestseller, including a new Foreword by Paulo Coelho.

Combining magic, mysticism, wisdom and wonder into an inspiring tale of self-discovery, The Alchemist has become a modern classic, selling millions of copies around the world and transforming the lives of countless readers across generations.

Paulo Coelho's masterpiece tells the mystical story of Santiago, an Andalusian shepherd boy who yearns to travel in search of a worldly treasure. His quest will lead him to riches far different—and far more satisfying—than he ever imagined. Santiago's journey teaches us about the essential wisdom of listening to our hearts, of recognizing opportunity and learning to read the omens strewn along life's path, and, most importantly, to follow our dreams.

Great book to open your eyes and give you the determination to reach your personal legend.

Easy clear reading! I started reading this at lunch on a Wednesday and I just wanted to read little bits, but then I took it home for the weekend and finished it crying and laughing on Saturday! I'd been wanting this book, because Will Smith mentioned the impact it made on his life, and it has also made a profound impact on mine now too! Read it and you will understand......

The boy is a Shepard and loves to travel. He comes across these people and he doesn't seem like he believes what they are saying to him. He goes along on his free will and chooses his own choices. Makes his own decisions.  He has begun his journey/adventure finding his treasure. The boy has had some doubt and is ready to turn back. It seems to be the unknown that scares him so it makes you want to turn around.  The boy has found love but still in pursuit of his personal legend. He was able to walk away from the one he loves to finish the journey he started. He has learned so much so far and a lot of it seems like you take in the environment and listen to what is around you to learn about it.  I finished the book and it ended really well. I am glad it had a wonderful ending. The wind was a nice touch. Their are good omens every where it's just if you can see them or not. Always listen to your heart and what it has to say.  I feel that it's so hard to find our life purpose if you have no idea what it is. Watch for the signs (good omens) to help you figure out where you should be in life. I am still wondering myself. We learn from the journey and the experiences we have. Great read and would read it again.

Such a lyrical book this was, full of wonder and delight and great joy. I have been reading this to my son at night and it is written with such ease that he understands it all.
