I love this book! Why? Because it’s packed full of ideas, both crafts and activities, and uses them to reinforce specific Scripture. It covers some familiar stories (Jonah, Noah), there are some verses from Psalms and even Scripture on salvation and living for Christ. It really covers a wide range of topics. 60 different topics and ideas that could easily be used to ensure the kids aren’t bored this summer. OR to use in Sunday school as well as evening youth groups. I see it as a book of “mini lesions” with important topics covered. Some require more planning, preparation or supplies before attempting, but all are doable and relatively inexpensive if not free. Some of the items are even household items that have been upcycled. I can see any leader requesting the kids to bring those items in to work on for the next activity. Things like empty toilet paper rolls and soda bottles. I really do like this book. It almost reminds me of activities that Boy Scouts would do (yes, I know they changed their name). For example, one activity is putting together a first aid kit. Another is putting up a tent as a team or building a campfire. And yet another is on knot tying. So cool! My kids aren’t part of either scout program, but they do love camping, so I know this will be a hit. I highly recommend this book for kids that love to craft, parents that want to keep their kids occupied during the summer or youth leaders/teachers that need a spark of creativity when preparing special activities during the warmer months. I receive a complimentary copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I know from experience that the summer break from school can lead to long days of, "Mom, I'm bored!" You pack in vacation, camp, swimming at the pool, etc. and still the days need something to fill them up. And then there are those rainy days (any time during the year) and those too-sick-to-go-to-school but bored with inactivity and you need something to occupy those little ones populating your domain. Zondervan Publishing has just the item. The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds and Epic Creations has 60 "try-something-new" activities that a variety of kids would totally enjoy doing. And what makes this so extra special is the connectivity to Scripture. Example: On the "finger knitting" activity, the scripture is Psalm 129:13-14 "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together...." This isn't a true devotional or Bible study book. It is a true activity book but has a bit of God's Grace and His Word sprinkled throughout. A nice way to stay focused on what's important. Basically, each of the 60 activities has 3 parts. (1) The activity with directions and good, clear pictures of the activity, (2) A "Think About This" that gleans some deeper thinking that could be connected to the activity, and (3) The passage of Scripture that zones in on this particular connection. Now granted, some of the activities need the guidance and oversight of an adult but this will be based on the age of the child. And some of the activities can be done by young children and some older. The book is designed for the 8 to 12 year old. I highly recommend this for homes with children. You find days, weeks, well, even years of activities that you can use to fill your children's lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer or those snow-bound days of the winter blahs. DISCLOSURE: I received a complimentary copy from the BookLook Review program on behalf of Zondervan Publishing to facilitate this review. Opinions are my own and are freely given.

The Adventure Bible – Book of Daring Deeds and Epic Creations was sent to me by Zonderkidz (A division of Zondervan Publishing), free of charge, in exchange for my honest review. This activity book was written by Sherry Kyle. The darling illustrations throughout the book were done by Dave Smith. The cover illustration, that would catch any eye, was done by Jim Madsen. There are 60 fun activities that will hold the attention of young kids - up to about middle school, I’d say. My grandson is going to love it! Along with the activity is a memory verse and a THINK ABOUT THIS, that correlates the activity to growing in God. I would recommend this book to maybe 7 or 8 up to about middle school.

This is a fun, interactive book with lots of fun crafts and adventures to offer both boys and girls (ages 8 and above). It has fun colorful illustrations and easy to follow instructions with materials most will already have on hand, which is great. With nice key verses and biblical scripture, this is a great book to have or give as a gift. Many thanks to Zondervan Z blog squad for the free copy of this adorable book!

My Review: I would have to say that this sweet little book is 100 percent kid friendly. There is so much more to the items contained in the book. Its not just crafts or just recipes it is a mixture of things for adventurous kids to enjoy. We home-school so this book will definitely become a staple in our home. As most of you know, my boys are always bored so this is a book that they will reference quite a bit, especially with summer approaching. My oldest child, my daughter also has a class at our church for young girls and i know this book would come in handy for them, as well. The book offers you crafts, easy recipes, and various kid friendly games. Your child can make a bird feeder out of a milk carton. They can play bottle bowling or make some trail mix. With 60 different ideas this book can take the boredom out of summer vacation in no time. Most if not all of the creative ideas in the book require little to no prep time and you can actually use household items to accomplish things. It was a fun book to look through and discover! **Disclosure** This book was book sent to me free of charge for my honest review from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

“From easy, do-it-yourself crafts to fun outdoor activities, The Adventure Bible: Book of Daring Deeds and Epic Creations shows kids how to find adventure indoors and out,” states the back jacket of the book. ~ What ~ This one-hundred-and-sixty-page small hardbound targets children ages eight to twelve years old who like to do crafts and projects indoors or outside. Containing sixty different activities, it also reminds the reader of God and His Word. Scriptures referenced are taken from the Holy Bible, New International Version. Part of the Adventure Bible series, this one focuses on fun crafts and activities to do for third graders and older. After an introduction, it includes creative projects that cover two to three pages each; it ends with a topical index and advertisements. Each activity has a title and short paragraph about it, followed by materials needed, numbered instructions, optional tips and features, a highlighted “Think About This” box in how it relates to God, Jesus, or the Bible, and a written out Bible verse on a scroll background. Some of the projects involve a balloon rocket, cosmic art, finger knitting, geocaching, hand prayer, leaf tracking, pet rocks, slime, tin can phone, and wind chimes. ~ Why ~ Having a degree in art, I love books that promote creativity in children, and this one does it wonderfully. I love how the topic of God is not overbearing so non-believers will have fun doing the craft and reading the small “God” comment and Bible verse. Some of my favorite activities were cloud soap, flower press, mason jar herb garden, potato-art tote, solar oven, and toilet paper roll flowers. I think this is an ideal book for artsy children, teachers, after-school programs, and summer camps while lightly mentioning God. ~ Why Not ~ For those who want nothing to do with learning about the Almighty, this may offend some, but it is not done in an overwhelming sense. Those who have no knack for creativity may avoid such a book. ~ Wish ~ I wish some of the instructions had corresponding illustrations for those who cannot visualize the written directions. ~ Want ~ If you have a child or are in charge of several and have no clue what to do to keep them occupied, this is a handy book that they will enjoy and cherish over time as they complete its fun projects. Thanks to Z Blog Squad for this complimentary book that I am under no obligation to review.

My kids absolutely LOVE doing crafts and being out in nature and The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds and Epic Creations combines them perfectly together. The best part for me was that every one of my kids found lots of ideas they couldn’t wait to try. This is awesome because I have 2 girls and 1 boy ranging in age from 9 to 18. So this book is perfect for a family. It reminds me of things you would learn and do in Boy or Girl Scouts with a Biblical twist. The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds and Epic Creations is a hardcover book with 60 colorful crafts and activities to make and do. Each entry includes a Think about This section which ties the craft / activity back to our Creator and ends with a Bible verse. I see this book quickly becoming a very favorite in my household! I received my copy of The Adventure Bible Book of Daring Deeds and Epic Creations for free as a member of Zondervan’s Z BLOG SQUAD in exchange for my honest review.
