Instant #1 New York Times bestseller

In James Patterson's white-hot Western thriller, a Texas Ranger fights for his life, his freedom, and the town he loves as he investigates his ex-wife's murder.

Across the ranchlands and cities of his home state, Rory Yates's discipline and law-enforcement skills have carried him far: from local highway patrolman to the honorable rank of Texas Ranger. He arrives in his hometown to find a horrifying crime scene and a scathing accusation: he is named a suspect in the murder of his ex-wife, Anne, a devoted teacher whose only controversial act was ending her marriage to a Ranger.

In search of the killer, Yates plunges into the inferno of the most twisted and violent minds he's ever encountered, vowing to never surrender. That code just might bring him out alive.

He's done it again. I never really got into reading much. But I really enjoy James Patterson's writing and storytelling. It always keeps me on the edge and I never want to put the book down!!

For a fast read it's not bad. Think maybe I have read better though.

If you like watching lame Lifetime or Hallmark movies then this book is for you. If you enjoy a well written suspenseful thriller with rich characters, story and dialogue you won't find it here. This book has simple stereotypical characters, ridiculous plot lines and sophmoric dialogue --why is Patterson writing (or co-writing) this drivel?

As title says this was an easy read and it was not clear as to the outcome until the very end with numerous twists and turns to get there.

I feel that James Patterson is really compromising the quality of his writing by farming out so much of it. This book was a predictable , fast read with poor character development . The Texas Rangers should be insulted.

It was a good J Patterson book. Kept you turning the pages. Short and to the point. I like this character.

By far the worst Patterson book I've ever read, and I love Patterson. Lame is the only word I can think of to describe it. It should be a young reader/teen book. NOT an adult book.
