I was very interested in this timeline because you hear about Lukes brief turn to the dark side and the Palpatine clones in the other novels but I was disappointed that it is only available in comic book form. I read it and thought it was ok but I would love to see a novel come out in the future to fill in this time frame with a little more detail. On a scale 1-10 I'd give it a 6.

I had hoped that a storyline with the Emperor returning from the dead and Luke Skywalker turning to the dark side of the Force would have a narrative to match the epic scope. The tale feels rushed, though, with very little buildup for what ought to be important dramatic points. With it comes art whose lines are seldom recognizable as the characters from the movies and whose colors are simply baffling. More recent work like Knights of the Old Republic and Legacy is much better.

Clunky storyline to say the least and the illustrations matched it. Waited a long time to read Dark Empire...I wished I'd waited a lot longer. Better than anything by Chuck Wendig, but that ain't saying much.

This trilogy is very powerful, and will affect all events afterwards. The adventure, alien animals, space age technology and force abilities were quite enjoyable - as always. I like this story, a lot, but this book isn't enough. The problem is that a graphic novel can't take a fan deep enough into the minds of Luke, Leia, Han, and Palpatine, or into spirit of the story. Graphic novels can only Illustrate a Star Wars Novel. I'm still hoping some author will eventually turn this into full/actual novels. That would be a great read.
