The Force, in the immortal words of Obi-Wan Kenobi, “surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together.” The fortunate few who are able to tap into this extraordinary power have studied and cultivated the full spectrum of its potential–either embracing its virtuous qualities or succumbing to its evil temptations. The Jedi seek to bring peace and enlightenment to the galaxy, while the Sith hunger only for conquest and control.

This comprehensive one-of-a-kind overview chronicles the known history of the Force and its wielders down through the ages, from the founding tenets of Jedi and Sith teachings to the landmark events and legendary figures who have shaped the struggle between the light and dark sides. In first-hand accounts by Obi-Wan Kenobi, Yoda, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, Darth Bane, Darth Vader, Count Dooku, Emperor Palpatine, and a host of other Jedi Masters, Sith Lords, scholars, and sages, Star Wars: Jedi vs. Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force spans the breadth of available knowledge, including

• the first recorded discovery of the Force
• significant battles affected by the Force throughout galactic history
• the purpose, construction, and importance of Holocrons
• the evolution of the Jedi and Sith orders
• Force-sensitive abilities–including battle meditation, telekinesis, and “mind tricks”
• noteworthy Jedi and Sith lightsabers, and the seven forms of lightsaber combat
• a vivid portrait of the Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker
PLUS–More than one hundred brand new full-color illustrations!

No Star Wars library is complete without this definitive guide to understanding the Force. Remember: the Force will be with you . . . always!

Star Wars Jedi vs. Sith is perfect for any new Star Wars fan trying to adjust to the complex and, at times, discouragingly vast universe that has cultivated the hearts and imiginations in our galaxy for over thirty years, for us die-hard fans who think we know it all, yet can be proven wrong now and then (on what planet did the Sith originate -- no, it wasn't Korriban or Ziost), or for any aspiring Jedi Knight or Dark Lord of the Sith. The Essential Guide to the Force chronicles the history of both Jedi and Sith from the first recorded contact with the Force, to the iron rule of Marka Ragnos, the rise and fall of Darth Vader, the triumphs and tragedies of the New Jedi Order, and the descandants of the Solo-Skywalker clan. The book utilizes 'first-hand' accounts such as the private records of Count Dooku and Obi-Wan Keobi, holocron recordings of Ulik Qel-Droma's master, Vodo-Siosk Bask, and Darth Sidious's Dark Side Compendium. In addition, it is very-well written, and can be read almost as a novel of the entire Star Wars universe. Remember, the Force will be with you, always!

Overall, it's a great omnibus on Jedi and Sith. The book is rich on each groups' philosophies, their history, and of course, the weapon of choice, the light saber. If there is one thing that I wish the book would go into further detail, it would be on the specifics of saber fighting forms (shii cho, soresu, etc - what moves/footwork go into each technique). There is some discussion on the seven forms, the marks of contact, and the topic of winning and losing. For those who may show an interest in saber fighting, or just in the idea of swordsmanship, I would also recommend Musashi's Book of Five Rings, or Flashing Steel: Mastering Eishin-Ryu swordsmanship by Shihan Shimabukuro and Leonard Pellman. Otherwise, Jedi v. Sith is a great read, well illustrated, and very thorough.

I am currently reading this book. I have found it very informative and interesting. I have a better knowledge of both the Sith and the Jedi. I have a host of Star Wars books and comics. But none of them prepared me for what I am currently reading. Sure, with all the sci-fi books and comics that I read about the Jedi, what I heard about the Sith, I thought I knew some thing about both. This book is a must read. It will enlighten you to more info about both the Jedi and the Sith. Also, if you are like me and have read several Star Wars books and comics, you will find that this book ties in to some of your reading. There are a lot of interesting pieces of information that intrigued me, like how to make a holocron or how to make a lightsaber.

A book written in-character as discussions of the history of the Jedi and the Sith from a perspective set in the days of the New Jedi Order, several decades after Return of the Jedi. It covers the deep history of the Jedi and the tales seen in comics and video games, set thousands of years before the movies, as well as much of the activity set after the movies. There are details of a number of Force powers and other groups, and some good perspectives on the Dark Side; this is well worthwhile for any game master or writer working in the Star Wars universe. The book has an index, but lacks a bibliography; you need to hit Wookieepedia if you want to figure out which books tell the tales of a particular event depicted here. The writing is generally good, with a few stumbles here and there as the author tries to find the voice for a particular character.

Explains a lot that would take years of reading all the Star Wars Novels ot know and understand. Although it only details the history of the StarWars Universe that deals with the Sith and Jedi, it is still good. Also, describes somethings you will only find minor and incomplete references to in the novels (such as Lightsaber fighting styles).

This is a small settlement established as a planetary hub for humans wishing to seek entrance into the academy. It includes weapon shops, armor shops, a landing area for space ships, a cantina, and a Czerka office.
