Summary:A cute story about five sheep shopping for a birthday gift. They see what they want to buy and do not have enough money so they clip their wool to pay. They then enjoy the birthday party.Personal Reaction: I liked this book because it rhymes and also because the pictures are very nicely colored and drawn.Classroom Extension Ideas:1. The kids can write down what other animals we use for clothes or hat we use some animals for.2. Have the kids make up their own rhymes.

Sheep in a shop is a rhyming book with sheep shopping for a birthday present and finding many interesting things in the shop. Good for a read aloud.

Connie's review: Very short, very rhyme-y. Good for children learning to sound things out, or learning to speak, because there are only a few short sentences per page. It's a very calming story, too, so it works well for naptime. Because it features a birthday at the end, it's also a good gift for a one or two year old child. Because it was printed in Britain some of the usages are odd to American ears, but nothing confusing - shop where we'd use store, that sort of thing. It's broadening to the young mind to hear different ways of speech.Ana's review: I like Sheep in Shop a lot. My favorite part is the end because I love the cake and the birthday party. I like the whole book.

The sheep are in a shop to buy a Birthday gift. The sheep find theperfect gift. Uh-oh, they do not have enough funds to buy the gift. Instead of trying to buy a more cost effective gift, they sold theirprized possession, wool. I honestly thought they were going to sell their hats because I would not want to sale my beautiful wool if I was a sheep. I might get cold! This book tells a entertaining rhyming story. The story is a good whyto teach children how to rhyme and some phonics sounds.I enjoyed the way the illustrations are colored. The book looks like a child(neatly) colored the pictures. If I was a child, I would be drawn to the book because of the way it is colored. The book looks like a coloring book. I only regret that the colors are not vivid. Readers should look closely in the story. There is a cute little mouse in the shop. Also notice how realistic the piggy bank apears. The book teaches a lesson a important life lesson: Sometimes we haveto make scacrifice for the things we want in life(the sheep soldtheir wool for a Birthday present).Classroom Extension1. The teacher can read the story and have the students to write a list of the words they heard that rhyme2. The students can write their own mini rhyming story.
