Ray Charles is about the young Ray Charles Robinson and the life he lead until he became a famous musician. His life was not always easy. He grew up poor and although he was born with sight, he became blind as a child from disease in his eyes. He learned to take care of himself even though he was blind. His mother did not go easy on him either and Ray had chores to do like any other child. He lived his life just like anyone else. He taught himself to play music and worked very hard to become famous. This book would be very beneficial to use as a resource when looking at African Americans that paved their own path. I liked this book because it talked more about where he came from and it helped me see how he became the famous musician he was.
