About the Author

Mary Engelbreit grew up studying the illustrations in the vintage storybooks of her mother's own childhood, and she developed a unique style that harkens back to those simpler times. She chose to illustrate Clement C. Moore's The Night Before Christmas as her first book for children. It quickly hit the New York Times bestseller list and has become part of the holiday tradition for families across the country. Other treasured additions to a child's first bookshelf include Mary Engelbreit's Mother Goose, Mary Engelbreit's A Merry Little Christmas—both New York Times bestsellers—along with Mary Engelbreit's Nursery Tales and Mary Engelbreit's Fairy Tales.

Wonderful illustrations by Mary Englebreit adorn the pages of this book. It tells the story of a class play in which Ann, the main character, does not receive the main part she wishes for but instead she gets stage manager. She is told it is due to how responsible she is and she ends up playing a significant part in the play for behind the curtain. This would be a good book to show children there is not part too big or too small.

This story shows how so many parts to a play or other things in our life need several different talents, and they are all important, not just the (star) or the star couldn't look so good without everyone else. A very good gift for a child.
