A great classic of Chinese literature, also known as Water Margin and All Men are Brothers, this is an exciting account of the adventures of a bold brigand army, like Robin Hood and his merry men, battling against tyrannical rulers.

Be very careful about this purchase as you will most likely receive a set of soft cover books in a cardboard case. I triple verified with the order desk that I would in fact be receiving hard cover copies and when the package arrived it was a soft cover set. Of course you can send it back etc., but it will be a lot of hassle not to mention that you can find soft cover sets considerably cheaper elsewhere. Being as B&N has been aware of this problem for a long time from other customers and still continue to advertise hardcover and mail softcovers I am reluctant to deal with a company with such unprofessional standards and lack of integrity. Buyer be advised!
You're probably looking to buy this book because you've played the Suikoden video games or the even more classical Bandit Kings of Ancient China. Your search is over then, because this is the book series that venerable set of video games has been based on. This four-book set is chock-full of action, adventure, humor, betrayal... all the things that make for great reading. I would caution the buyer though about the misleading product description. I ordered it expecting a HARDCOVER set. What I got was a set of four PAPERBACK books in a cardboard slipcase. Slightly disappointing, but at least I own a copy of one of the four great Chinese classics. Caveat emptor.
There is a common saying about this book and Four Rare Books, Teen's 'Journey to the West' let kids sit and rest Twenty's 'Outlaw of Marsh' for lads, would lead them to arrest Thirty's Three Kingdoms that would give guys life crest Forties would read Red Mansion Dream for no rest. This is book is good for everyone, but gangsters. Comment from a Outlaw of Marsh, Robin of Woods, and Cowboy of Wild West.
this is one of the best books i have ever read. i couldn't put it down and ended up finishing it very quickly. now i'm left with the dilema of finding another good book.
These books are great. The action and excitment never lets up and every turn of the page leads you deeper in to the secrecy, intrigue, and adventure of the struggle between 12th century officials and outlaws. Each chapter or two reads like story in itself, so if you want, you can put the book down and pick it up again later. I highly recommend these volumes to anyone looking for excitment, drama, war, romance; this book is an all-in-one deal.
