This is not your typical sex ed book. Instead of typically puritanical views on sex and puberty, On Blossoming focuses on incorporating the principles of pleasure into sex education for our youth and creates a new paradigm of human sexuality. This book takes on a taboo topic in our culture backed with a compelling mixture of research and personal experience.

Author Gia Lynne’s biggest question is, how can we expect to have sexual health if we do not learn about pleasure before our first sexual experiences? Our collective social stigma around talking about sex—most of all good sex—prevents these conversations from happening and it’s having a detrimental effect on our teens of all genders and our society as a whole. On Blossoming will teach you and your teens:

  • How to navigate conversations on “the birds and the bees”;
  • How to effectively communicate with parents, friends, and partners;
  • To explore the differences between sensuality and sexuality;
  • To learn about the entire anatomy of the clitoris;
  • How sex can be open, communicative, and fun every time; and
  • How to know and explore your own body.
Written for people of all ages and genders, it’s time to rework the standard script of sexual education and fill in the gaps. Instead of primarily addressing the medical aspects of puberty or potential problems, Lynne presents solutions and provides tools for creating positive experiences in the realms of communication, pleasure, and happiness.

Lynne’s fresh perspective and unique take on sensuality, pleasure, and communication is bound to benefit not only the youth of the next generation, but anyone ready to have their life be better. Straightforward and clear, yet easily approachable and funny, Lynne lays the groundwork for how to have winning experiences in a range of situations: from talking to your teen or parent/guardian, communicating with a partner in a winning way, to responsibly making informed decisions to have the sensual experiences you want. A timeless must read!

The book you wish your parents had shared with you I am just going to say right up front - I loved this book! I'll start with the fact that I could not put it down. It was so funny and engaging and it felt like a conversation with my best friend. Now add onto that the fact that it was filled with great info about talking to your kids, about pleasure and about just generally having great experiences no matter what age you are and, bam! She really hit all the points I wish I had known as a young person. I think everybody should read this book. I mean now. Put your coffee down and order it.

I wish I had this book when I was a teenager! I was given this book by a friend and because my understanding was that it was written for teens, I was a bit dubious. I was hooked reading the introduction. I was amused, intrigued, and edified throughout this book. I read it in two days. Everyone should read this book, and actually, everyone will want to after reading the first page. It's great for teens and parents, but I am not either and I LOVED IT!
