It's the night before the Big Day—first grade. Penny is excited to start the year with her best friend right beside her in the same classroom. This humorous take on Clement C. Moore's classic tale has a perfect twist ending that will surprise readers—as well as the “heroine” of the story—and help all about-to-be first-graders through their own back-to-school jitters.

I love this story. I read it to my first grade class. It has great repetition and rhyme. You know a child's attention span is their age + 3 minutes, so it allots the perfect amount of time to read while engaging them. Just as the title sounds, it follows the rhythm of The Night Before Christmas. It is a delightful read for any 1st grader or 1st grader to be.

Just as good as "The Night Before Kindergarten." It's scary making new friends but it doesn't hurt. This book shows kids that although you might not have the same class as your best friend but you could always make new friends and meet your friend after school. That might not be a good description =/ so read it! You'll love the ending!!

This was a good story to read to upcoming 6 year old. She liked it and we have read it several times over the summer as well as the days right up to the start of school. The book has made her excited about starting school and remembering all the things she likes about it.
