As a beginning photographer who is interested in printing more than snapshot quality, this book provides a good overview and touches on all the subjects that a person needs to think about when planning to print art photos or larger images. The book is heavy on photographs, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but one of the most interesting aspects are the small--one to two page--introductions to professional photographers and some of their thoughts on the printing processes. These small conversations introduce the beginner to photo styles different from the author. I would definitely recommend this book--as I said, for the beginner such as myself--but for anyone who has done larger format printing and wants to fine-tune their technique, this is probably not the book they are looking for.

I had the previous version of this book and find the updated one to be even more valuable. I spent a lot of $ on my Epson printer but did not get professional looking photographic prints from it until after getting this book. This book is much easier to comprehend than the printer manual. If you have an Epson printer that you have not quite figured need this book.

A fine book for someone who might not know what an inkjet printer is, but sorely lacking for anyone who actually will attempt to use one. It needs practical information, examples, ink advice, paper selection. Really it is no more informative than the information that comes with your printer, just better written. You could print following it, but you could print without it just as well. Perhaps you would have a better vocabulary to describe problems you encounter, but not be better armed to solve them. Look instead to Uwe Steinmuller's book, or John Paul Caponigro in Digital Photo Pro mag.
