The Fox Nation host, Fox News contributor, and social media master argues that it’s time to square your shoulders, stand your ground and speak the truth.
The conventional wisdom is that we need more civility and fewer arguments. If you have a controversial option, keep it to yourself. Tomi Lahren could not disagree more. It’s a trick. The same people whining about tone will call you names and applaud those who threaten you. We don’t need safe spaces, and you shouldn’t be patient and wait out the bullying. In Never Play Dead, Lahren encourages all Americans, especially women, to find their voice and speak out. She skewers the hypocrisy of the self-esteem movement that has made people afraid to stand up for themselves.
Wherever Lahren goes, the # 1 question she gets isn’t about politics. It’s about her confidence in herself, her beliefs and who she is. Never Play Dead not only answers this question but helps you learn how to stand your ground, discover how resilient you are and find your fearless side. In this book, she offers the antidote to all that: worry less about who might offend, and focus on who you might inspire. In the long-run, you will never regret being forceful when the truth is on your side.
Lahren worked her way out of South Dakota to television fame in LA, surviving social isolation, a truly terrible boyfriend, awful workplaces, and getting fired in front of a million haters. Along the way, she was tempted to keep quiet, but she never did. Now she calls out the comment trolls, the political correctness police, the terminally jealous, and the ever-escalation victim culture that tells you all your failures are because of the system (and therefore there’s nothing you can do about it). Whether you’ve been told you’re not good enough by parents, lovers, frenemies, bad bosses, or social media, it’s time to take Lahren’s advice and fight back.
It’s better to lose friends and followers than to lose yourself. The truth is, you may find more people who agree with you than you think. It’s time to shed your fear. With Never Play Dead she inspires you to stand up—and shows you how.

Tomi Lahre claims to be concise and articulate, but her book proves how much of an overstatement that is. Her grammar is so terrible I believe she decided to “edit” the book on her own to save money. Also, this book could be cut in half by removing all the redundancy. Her chapters and thoughts are not well-organized in any sort of fashion, nor does the title link well to the text. In the book Tomi talks heavily about working hard and achieving your goals as if this is a new concept. She even speaks about how proud she was when she got a summer job her Jr year of high school. I worked full-time starting the legal age to do so in my own state at 16, graduated early to get a head start on college, and continued working full-time throughout my college career., yet adversity hit me in the face like a ton of bricks, and I couldn’t achieve my ultimate goal. Tomi doesn’t seem to grasp the concept other sheer luck always plays into one’s fate in life,; therefore, I don’t believe she’s had enough adversity in her life and needs to grow up a little more to really grasp what the “real world” is all about. I think her book can be summed up nicely by this quote, “We have all these people who are homeless and shoving needles in their arm [sic] because they “followed their dreams” [sic].” It shows how this book is really for her ignorant followers instead of EVERYONE, and it shows how arrogantly ignorant she is herself. That quote is incendiary and demagogic as is most of her book. Her book does deserve the one, maybe just a half, star because it was entertaining minus the redundancy. But I do agree with another commenter that her book will soon be in the clearance bins.
Inane dribble from someone who has nothing of substance to offer. Will be on the $1 book table soon.
I loved this book - I'm not sure what the bad reviews are all about. Aside from the slight repetitiveness, it's inspirational, empowering & all about being confident in who you are REGARDLESS OF WHAT YOU STAND FOR. And the things people have done to this woman... the fact that she's standing, let alone that she's willing to write a book to show other people to fight for their confidence is beyond amazing. Every story is another moment where you tell yourself, if she can do it, so can I!
At the moment I've only read the first two chapters, am reading chapter three tonight. I'm enjoying this book so far. She is sharing her experiences and is teaching you not to be a victim. She tells you not to think like her but to think for yourself. She leans more towards conservative, but she thinks for herself. She doesn't strike me from what I've read in the book that is extreme right or extreme left. She has experienced hatred from both sides. I can't give a deeper review because haven't finished the book yet. From what I've read I give it five stars. I'm looking forward to meeting her and have her sign my book.
Admirable young lady with out-of-date beliefs in integrity, honesty and ethical behavior. This is a history book about a woman trying to live in today's world with qualities that are almost gone. Courageous effort!
