I got his book for my niece's children (ages 5 and 7), along with "My little Golden Book About Sharks'. The book is well written and well illustrated. An authority was consulted so the facts are correct. I know her children will really enjoy the book, since my own son had so much enjoyment from Golden Books. But I specifically bought it because my niece is looking for books with good examples of paragraphing for her 7 year old learning to write. There are paragraphs with one to 4 sentences, and the sentences vary from simple sentences to sentences with clauses. Not all non-fiction or science books are well written. It takes a good writer to use vocabulary, sentence patterns and flow of language correctly/in an interesting way when talking about specific facts and scientific knowledge. Although the book is geared to young children, it has a lot to offer. Not only was I very happy that I found this book, but my niece is very happy too!
