I haven't read any of the other books in this series, but this one was pretty cute. It brought in so many fun musicals. I saw Phantom of the Opera, Grease and High School Musical among others. It was a quick, fun read. Adults would enjoy the nods to the different musicals and children would find the cute mice funny.

I bought this book for my daughter. She is a reluctant reader but she enjoys the Babymouse books (she has all of the books). I like Babymouse series because she is not the most popular or athletic character but what an imagination! My daughter and I have a great time reading together and that is important! I recommend ALL of the books in this series!

So cute! I can see why it's popular with the elementary school crowd. Graphic novel setup really helps to tell the story. It isn't often I find a book aimed at young readers that makes me chuckle out loud. As a lover of musicals, I found the story clever, and I imagine many a mom has had to sing the captions to her daughter. I think Gilbert and Sullivan would approve.

Y'all know I love my Babymouse and this might be my favorite in the series so far. The school's putting on a musical and when dreamy British newcomer Henry encourages Babymouse to try out she can't help but show up at auditions. When she's given the part of Felicia's understudy, Babymouse is sure she'll never get on stage. With tons of musical references (from Phantom to West Side Story to Evita to Fiddler and more!), this is a surefire hit with any fan of musicals. But will kids get all the references? Even if they don't, Babymouse's theatrical debut is a definite crowd-pleaser.

This is a Cybils nominee and, dare I say it, my first Babymouse book. Sure I've seen them lined up at the library, even peeked inside them, but I don't have any daughters and my son freaks if the colour pink gets too close to him so I haven't had an excuse. Now, finally I have a real reason to read Babymouse! This was absolutely wonderful! Babymouse (as I'm sure almost everyone already knows) is an adorable character; she's a bit of a klutz and rather a goof at times but she's got lots of friends and has lots of fun. Well Felicia Furrypaws doesn't like her but then she's a cat. Babymouse gets the part of the understudy to Felicia in the school play and daydreams her way through the book going off into musical interludes that are hilarious. I'm not sure how much kids will get the musical scenes but I couldn't help singing the words as she dreamt up All That Jazz, The Phantom of the Opera, Grease, Pirates of Penzance and Annie though they will recognize The Lion King and American Idol. I'm thoroughly enamoured with Babymouse and kid's have proven they are too. If you haven't read Babymouse yet this is a great one to start with!
