Monarch butterflies are interesting creatures. Who would think that butterflies actually migrate like birds during the winter? There is also something more extravagant about these tiny little creatures, which would be their crazy phases they undergo. Throughout this journey in "Monarch Butterfly," one can actually "experience" and view the life styles of a Monarch butterfly. Understanding nature and the way of life is very important. For example, nature is so powerful that sometimes what something looks like at first is not always what it will look like for the rest of its life. Come, read, and join the exploration of the life of Monarch butterflies.

This non fiction picture book is a great way to teach the life cycle of a butterfly. Going through each of the stages in detail is a wonderful way to incorporate reading into a science activity.

I love all of Gail Gibbons books! This one is about monarch butterflies, and it has many detailed illustrations in it. I love how she uses the scientific words like chrysalis, metamorphisis, and pupa. She gives a very detailed account of the butterflies life cycle, and the illustrations are also very detailed!

This is a great children's book focusing on the monarch butterfly. It details the life cycle of the monarch in kid-friendly language and goes on to talk about its migration habits and how some people of special festivals in honor of the monarch butterfly. It ends with information on how to raise monarch butterflies and some interesting facts about them. This books is appropriate for kindergarten and first grade as a science read aloud. Second graders and above will be able to read it independently. It's told as a story hand has large, detailed illustrations matching the text. It looks and feels more like a story picture book, rather than nonfiction text. Very engaging and informative for young readers.
