Children usually fear the unknown. In A Memory for Tino by Leo Buscaglia, the young boy Tino fears the lady next door. He thinks she is a vampire. In an unexpected twist and turn Tino befriends the neighbor, Ms. Sunday and starts to share ginger cookies and develop a true friendship. Tino decides to give her a gift, unfortunate it is the family television. This creates uproar his family home and in the end it is the catalyst to make all realize that the most important gift of all is friendship, not material stuff. A beautifully written story of the import things in life.
