I have a voracious appetite for books. My interest in them ranges from anything from Canterbury Tales to Pride and Prejudice, from Philippa Gregory to V.C. Andrews to Sidney Sheldon . I have even read a few good romance and urban romance novels by Virginia Henley, Trista Russell, and Noire. A few years ago a cousin of mine recommended that I read A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers. I was familiar with her work, having previously read The Scarlett Thread 'another fine book by the lady'. Anyway, the next day, I went out and bought the book. From the moment I picked it up, I could not put it down. Never have you read, a book that so transports you to the time and place in which it is written or that is so alive and vivid and the characters so real that you feel you know them. I finished this book in a day and a half and the next day I went out and got the second part. When I finished that book, I was so disappointed. Not because it was a bad story but because it had ended. I wanted it to go on. Finally, I bought the last book, and I absolutely fell in love with the character Theophilius. Since getting these books I have read them time and time again, as well as added her other books to my collection. Simply put, I love them. Mrs Rivers is a gifted Christian writer with a unique talent of being able to write a book about God's love without neither watering it down nor making the reader feel condemned. And, at the same time you learn so much from them historically and spiritually. There is action and adventure yet no senseless violence, and it is romantic enough to enthrall the reader without the use of smut or too much unneeded description and imagery. Mrs Rivers is truly a great writer who produces great works. Hopefully, there will be many more to come.

Thess books are great because they are fiction, but based on Biblical truths. The story is a must read for anyone wanting to understand the persecution of Christians and the faith in Christ that guided their life.

I have just finished a Voice in the Wind and am amazed. I had already read Redeeming Love by this author and read A Voice in the Wind by a friend's suggestion. As always, amazing! The ending had me almost in tears, and I can't wait to get the next one!!! Rivers writes in an engaging and expressive style while not spending to long on dreary descriptions and yet giving just enough that you feel you are there in the story. Her insight into characters gives you an insight into yourself and they seem to speak not to just the characters in the story but to you yourself the reader. A thrilling and engaging work, Bravo!

Everyday life in Rome during the reign of Caesar: Working as a gladiator, being a slave on the market, partying with Roman senators, or attending an underground church - Amazing!

The story of a second generation Christian/Jewish girl during and after the fall of Jerusalem. She's sold as a slave to a Roman family and has to struggle with her personal beliefs. The first two books are amazing. The third is a tagalong story of a minor character from the first novels. It's fairly missable.

I loved how inspiring this book is. We see a range of the Christian experience—from those mature in the faith to new Christians. Of these, we get to witness their growth from toddlers in the faith to the mature. Although, Mrs. Rivers uses dramatic storytelling to show conversions to the faith which I felt could lessen the conversion accomplished by the persistent small voice, I had to remind myself that this was 1st century Christianity. The book of Acts is very dramatic and therefore, this storytelling is most appropriate.

I have read many series, but none have impacted my life the way the Mark of the Lion series has. Each book contains fabulous characters that continue to walk beside you long after the final chapter has closed. I have revisited them many times, as well as introducing them to many of my friends and family. Hours well spent and a respect and love for the early martyrs is renewed.

This was an AMAZING series. I read this series with my wife and it was absolutely spectacular. It enlightens you about the Word of God and strengthens your faith to witness more. I don't read much but this book is so exciting that it encourages me to read more. Now I'm looking to read the next book by Francine Rivers.

I positively adore this whole series! I own all of the books in both hardback and e-book so I can read them wherever I am. It just feels so real and Powerful you can't help but feel everything the characters feel along the way. Not to mention Rivers skill in portraying the truth of Christ as well as the turmoil of living without Him. This is a serious I will read over and over again!

Full of adventure and excitement! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! Made me laugh, bite my nails, angry, happy, reverence, and even cry like a baby! Even though it's fictional characters their walk with God feels so real and relatable! "That still small voice " imprinted on my heart

This is a must read book. (kind of like an historical fiction) The gospel is woven into the book beautifully. She makes you fall in love with the characters and of course detest the bad guys. Francine Rivers is an amazing writer! I've also read Redeeming Love and it was incredible - this book is just as good - maybe even better!

This is my all-time favourite series. Romantic and thought-provoking. I was left weeping after the first book in the series (which I finished in one sitting despite the length) and then flew through the second two. I've read the series several times since them. The characters are wonderfully flawed, their situations vividly realistic. Truths about God's love and forgiveness are in every page. Haven't read anything as powerful before or after. Great series.
