New York Times bestselling author Stephen Coonts delivers another nail-biting thriller starring CIA Director Jake Grafton and his right-hand man, Tommy Carmellini.

The president of the United States stands on an outdoor stage, flanked by powerful members of his administration and party. Television crews are preparing for broadcast. High above the stage, on a nearby rooftop, a decorated sniper adjusts the scope on his rifle.

Afterwards, America will never be the same.

Jake Grafton and Tommy Carmellini suddenly find themselves on the wrong side of the law when a public act of violence throws the country into chaos just before a presidential election. After martial law is declared and rioting begins, Grafton and Carmellini must risk everything to unravel a massive conspiracy and help a new resistance movement rise up against an unimaginable enemy…

This is directed to the 2 IDIOTS who have labeled this book as a one star, racist view from an 80 year old. You have apperently never read any of the other novels by this author and I'd be willing to bet you did'nt get past the first couple of chapters of this book. You should'nt try to read any other titles either, they would be way to smart for you two dunces.

Over the years I have read every book by Mr. Coonts and have enjoyed them. But as it is with most good things in life, it comes to an end and so this will be my last book by this once pretty good author. To give it a fair review I actually did read the whole book to the very end and found it to be nothing more than a highly dramatized infomercial for the extreme far right. So much so that I would think this would be considered "out there" by even Glenn Beck. It is a battle between the great well-meaning, mom and apple pie conservatives of this nation fighting the evil, raving mad, lunatic liberals. Including a comic book version of our own, duly elected, current president, portrayed as a cross between Lex Luther and Hitler). The book is chocked full of racism and soliloquies by characters on the so-called virtues of about every hot-button topic on the far right from 2nd Amendment to immigration to birth control and everything in between. Unless you are a far right person yourself, who would undoubtedly love this tripe, save your money and not buy this drivel. It's really bad!

Utter garbage from a once great writer.

It's like the author took every single Right wing conspiracy theory and ran with it. I found it rather far fetched and long winded at times. 80% of this book doesn't even involve the main characters.. We get it.. You're against the "Liberals" in real life. Isn't it funny how this books covers people being kept in old Walmart stores and camps by those Liberals.. But it is our current Republican president who is currently doing that in the REAL world.

I had to make myself read this book. I started to lay it down and walk away several times. The plot line was from an Alex Jones, NRA, Fox News fever dream. It was what the right wing acted like the Obama administration was actually doing. I will not be reading anymore from this author.

If this was about the current GOP admin it would be believeable. However it sounds like Obama bashing at its worst. Last Coonts book I will ever read.

A right wing satire. Once you realize that the writer wrote this as a satirical view of those people who believe alternative facts and fake news, the book starts being pretty good. From what I could tell every historical or political 'fact' put forth by the book is the exact opposite in real life. It would have been better if the writer mentioned this satire in the beginning of the book so most people didn't think it was written by just another person living in an alternate reality and rejecting science, truth, facts and honor.

Fantastic tale of what could happen soon. Riveting . Funny and hopefully just fiction! Great characters in situations we fear may be on the way. READ IT!
