I read this book a few years ago, but I still remember it. My sister has to do a project about it, and I'm glad she got to do such a great book. I would say any 4th to 5th grader would just LOVE this book! Try it out today!

The book ¿The Kid in the Red Jacket¿ by Barbara Parks is about a kid named Howard Jeeter and he is having everything in his life go wrong. First of all he has to move to a new house because of his farther. He doesn¿t like this because he won¿t know any body around and he thinks he¿s going to be loser. Another reason is that he will have to leave all of his friends and he will miss them. To make things worst there¿s a little girl that lives across his house that is younger then him and he thinks that she is the most annoying kid in the world and she always comes to his house so that annoys him even more. The problem doesn¿t stop right there, the next day after they moved there Howard has to goes to school and be the new kid in school. How will Howard over come this and live the way he used to?

This book is about a kid named Howard Jeeter that moves to a new state, Massachusetts. When he gets there, his mom sends him to school on their second day there. He thinks it's the horror of his life. Anyways, he makes new friends after a while. But his biggest horrors are across the street. His neighbor Molly Vera Thompson.

The book a is laugh on a page and tears on the other pages. My granddauter Claire was given a copy by her teacher and got one from me.This is not criticizim, but my grand daughters first day to new school in Cairo she cried big tears. She said she didn't want to be the new kid, I wrote and 8 by 11 letter to her saying she would love school the famous author just wrote it backwards. It gets very very good by the end of the day. So dose the book. between me teacher she has two of them now to share with her young cousins. Thank you. We'll buy more of her books for her.

This book is about the hardships of moving. New school, new people, and trying to get a chance to get used to your own house! But that can all be hard when you have an annoying little girl that lives right next door!

He ends up being friends with Ollie and Roger but with some difficulty getting there. After all Howard doesn't think it's so bad living in Massachusetts.
