Overview

McCall Richter works as a skip tracer, tracking down criminals, con men, and people who stop making payments on their fancy new spaceships.

Her job description says nothing about locating vast quantities of stolen maple syrup, but thanks to her helpful new android employee, she finds herself tramping through a "sugar house" on a frosty moon full of suspicious characters. The only witness to the crime? The junkyard dog next door.

Junkyard is a stand-alone novella set two years before Fractured Stars.

An excellent light read. I found myself not able stop turning the pages as I had to find out who stole the maple syrup. A quick read recommended for all

On this fledgling series! McCall & her partner -- an android who was not quite sure that freedom should apply to him -- are private investigators hired to find a thief. How they do that and manage to avoid a bad end makes for a good enough short story that I will be buying the next book to see where they go & what they do next. :-)

The heroin is autistic which is so refreshing to have something unusual to add to the story. Very good character and world building , enjoyed reading about this world and Captain McCall

Another good story. Always enjoy the characters and their personalities. The dialogue is very good. Entertaining and a complete little story. Every story doesn’t need to be about saving a world or universe. Some of the best are about the people and their own little world.

Interesting. I enjoyed reading this book, but... " Thank the suns...". Is God completely gone from our future? It's best not to take His Name in vain in any case. Too many references to the dog's bathroom functions and sexual organs. Unnecessary. I didn't appreciate the bad language, either, but do understand that it's realistic - except for McCall. She could have been a more refined person than the others. The protagonist will stroke a dirty junkyard dog but not willingly touch a clean human being? Editing free: Grammar: I appreciate you coming out... ; ...as if she was a... (sample); new employee to pursue...; Considering the warehouse had ... (& many such); they have only found out three days...; it shined through now; to rely on public... (& other places); maybe I better; He appears uncooperative, Punctuation: good! Except for "Dunham, and he"
