Chapter 4: Snipping, Snipping, Snipping

I opened and closed my shiny scissors real fast.

"Now I can start my years and years of practice!" I whispered very thrilled.

I skipped to my bed where my stuffed animals sit. 'Cause I needed volunteers, of course.

"Who wants to go first?" I asked my animals. "Who wants to get their fur trimmed at my beauty shop?"

My bestest elephant named Philip Johnny Bob raised his foot.

"I do! I do!" he said.

I hugged him very tight. 'Cause that guy is always a good sport, that's why.

I picked him up and put him in my beauty chair.

I sat him on lots of pillows so he would be tall.

Then I kept on looking and looking at his fur.

"Yeah, only here's the problem," I said. "Your fur is made out of softie gray velvet. And softie gray velvet is short and smoothie. And so I can't even trim you."

Philip Johnny Bob did a sad sigh.

I patted his head and put him back on the bed.

Just then, I accidentally stepped on something.

I looked on the floor.

And guess what?

It was my slippers that look like bunnies!

"Us! Us! Trim us!" they said real squealy.

"Hey, yeah! 'Cause you have the beautifulest long white fur I ever even saw! And so you guys will be perfect, probably!"

I quick picked them up and put them in my beauty chair.

After that, I skipped all around them. And I snipped their long white fur.

I singed a lovely song.

It is called "Snipping, Snipping, Snipping Their Long White Fur."

It was the funnest fun I ever even had.

After I got done, I holded them up to the mirror so they could see theirselves.

They did not smile.

I>We're baldies," they said real soft.

I did a big breath at those guys.

"Yeah, only I already know you are baldies. But that is not my fault. 'Cause you kept on wiggling while I was trimming you," I said.

I petted their heads very nice.

"Don't worry," I whispered. "'Cause bunny fur probably grows back, probably. I'm almost positive, sort of."

Then I hugged them real gentle. And I throwed them under my bed.

'Cause I didn't want Mother and Daddy might see them, that's why.

After that, I got in bed and did a sigh.

This job was going to take more practice than I thought.

Iam a Pre-K teacher and my kids beg me to read Junie B. Jones to them! We read two Junie B. Jones books a week. I was worried at frist about the poor grammar that Junie speaks with and her bad behavior, but my class assured me that they learn from Junie B. how NOT to behave and they also correct her grammar. They are crazy about Junie B! They loved Junie B. Jones Is a Beauty Shop Guy the best.

I stumbled upon this book at the perfect moment: right after my daughter (age 4) cut her own bangs... Twice! Although a change from the usual picture books I read to her, she was entranced and we read it cover to cover in 45 minutes. While it is true that the grammar used is not always proper, the book is written in first person from a kindergartener's perspective. In our case, that made it all the more appealing. We are deciding what our next Junie B. Jones adventure will be.

What I like about this book is the pictures. They are so detailed and the story keeps getting more interesting. This story had not a lot of pictures but you had ti imagine it. There were only 4 or 5 pictures, but the book was better.

Even though these series are meant for younger readers, I found myself cracking up at Junie B.'s funny antics. I usually prefer historical fiction. I am in middle school now, on my way to high school. So what? I like this series, though it's true about the wrong grammar and spelling. But it is from a kindergartener's point of view, and the readers deserve a break from grammar.(I never think about having a break from grammar.)

I was concerned about the poor grammer used in this series. I've been spending alot of time teaching correct sentence structure. However, its a fun book to read out loud to a beginning reader.

I don't have this on the nook or at my own house, but i DO have it at my maw-maws beach house. So when i'm at the beach house, i usally unpack my clothes, put them in the drawers (i don't have a closet), and sit on the sofa with the book. To bad i only have about ten minutes before i have to get my swimsuit on. I'd read the book all DAY if i could! Once i tried to sneak the book with me,but it didn't work. My dad caught me trying to tuck it in to my bag. Don't get any ideas from me, it'll probally not work anyway. I'm a book lover, if you ask me. I read during class,i read out side, i'm only in the third grade and i'm on a fifth grade reading level. Any way, i love Junie B. Jones and i give this book a five star rating. -chesney nichols

Junie B. Jones went to the barber shop with her dad one day when her mother had to take her little brother to the doctor. When Junie B. goes with her dad she finds out that its a new place called a beauty shop. Junie B. wants to help the lady thats cutting her fathers hair. When she gets home she decided that she wants to become a "beauty shop guy." She practice on her slippers and her dog. She gets in trouble and her mother and father take away her scissors. Then, she finds another pair of scissors and cuts her own hair. This book brought back memories of when I put my hair as a child.

She got herself into a bit of trouble and says she's going to be a beauty shop guy.My Thoughts:I think that it is a funny book.
