About the Author

John Brooks was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, but claims he got to Texas as quick as he could. He is a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University where he received a bachelor of arts degree in psychology in 1968 and attended Southwestern Baptist Theology Seminary from 1968–1971. He is married to Terrie Shaver of Gurden, Arkansas, and together, they have two children, Alicia Coats and Barry Brooks, as well as six grandchildren. The Brooks live in Crandall, Texas, which is a small town about twenty-five miles southeast of Dallas, Texas. John has enjoyed two separate careers. He spent twenty-six years as an employee of the Federal Bureau of Prisons and another sixteen years as the lead pastor of a thriving Southern Baptist Church. John and Terrie are both avid runners and compete in road races in and around the Dallas area. They have completed multiple marathons. John has always enjoyed a quick sense of humor and uses that to his advantage in his writing. In his stories, he has a unique way of pointing out personal flaws but is able to redeem his many mishaps with an inspirational bible verse at the end.
