Fisher discusses feelings such as shyness, embarrassment, and anger, and addresses dealing with bullies, the death of a loved one, parental divorce, and moods brought on by hormonal changes. Family relationships such as sibling rivalry, blended families, and arguing with parents are covered, as are circumstances associated with school (homework stress) or peers (friendship, pressure to participate in dangerous or illegal activities). The advice is clear and compassionate in helping young readers to see beyond the immediate crisis to the bigger picture of life. Glibbery covers personal hygiene for preteens, sensible weight control, sleep habits, dental health, eye and foot care, basic first aid, and drugs and smoking. Green begins with breathing and posture and goes on to demonstrate easy exercises for kids to do alone or with a partner, including yoga, jumping rope, dancercise, and jogging. A particularly appealing feature of this book is the inclusion of several chubby children in the photographs. While the material in these titles is not new or unique, it is attractively presented and easy to understand. However, they are entries in an already crowded field.
