About the Author

H. A. Rey and his wife, Margret, first introduced the world to the big-hearted, fun-loving troublemaker-hero Curious George in 1941, and young readers have been in love with him ever since.

Hena Khan is a Pakistani-American Muslim who was born and raised in Maryland. The mother of two she has written many picture books for children and is thrilled to be introducing Curious George to his first Muslim holiday!

Hans and Margret Rey created many books during their lives together, including Curious George, one of the most treasured classics of all time, as well as other favorites like Spotty and Pretzel. But it was their rambunctious little monkey who became an instantly recognizable icon. After the Reys escaped Paris by bicycle in 1940 carrying the manuscript for the original Curious George, the book was published in America in 1941. More than 200 Curious George titles followed, with 75 million books sold worldwide. Curious George has been successfully adapted into a major motion picture and an Emmy-winning television show on PBS.

One of my four-year-old's favorites. It was a great help when his classmate celebrated Ramadan-- he was able to bond with her over customs he'd read about in the book. A really lovely story with lots of great details to spark conversation in a totally age-appropriate way for preschoolers and kindergarteners.
