With illustrations that make the scariest creature look extremely funny and romping repetitive text, readers will never expect what happens when this haunted house has a trick-or-treater knock on its door. A fun book about all the creatures/animals that startle each other in a pile-up, silly sequence after a trick or treater knocks. While this book is designed for 1st/2nd graders to read by themselves, it works well even if you read it to them (I would say it's best for age 4 and up; not sure if younger than that would like it that much, b/c they might possibly find it a bit scary and/or not appreciate the fun, repetitive wordplay). That repetitive wordplay is fun for an adult to read (my son laughs when I read it at an increasingly fast rate), but also helps when a young reader is learning words (some of which are a bit challenging). So it works on both levels.
This is a great book. I checked it out at the library and my four year old grandson loved it. I really enjoyed reading it with him. I plan on buying it for his home library. That you for writing such an enjoyable story.
