4.5☆ I love Tenley and Hayden's relationship. They are beyond perfect for each other in every way and I loved reading about their continued journey in Inked Armor. They both go through a lot in this book and it puts a lot of strain on their relationship. Even with all those problems, the storyline was really good. I especially liked Hayden's parents part of the story, it was really intriguing even though it was sad. I also really hate Trey and Cross; they're both evil men. The book kept me sucked in and wanting to know what was next for Tenley and Hayden. They have both been through so much and they deserve a happy ending, and I thought this was the perfect ending for them. On a partial side note I love how Helena writes Hayden and Tenley's characters. They're perspectives are always interesting, especially understanding how they see things in life based on their past. She did a wonderful job writing them and letting me understand why they do the things they do.

"Everyone has scars, Tenley. If we're lucky, they're only on the outside." What an emotional ride this was to watch two broken souls find their way through their pasts. The writing was captivating and the story the perfect blend of sadness, hope and healing! This is a terrific series and one of my favorites of 2014!

Inked Armor by Helena Hunting 4.5 out of 5 Stars Ever since I read Clipped Wings I have been desperately needing to know what happened to Hayden and Tenley and I am sooo thankful to finally know! As before, Hunting has successfully swept me into the tattoo world and colored my emotions every hue and tone possible. This book picks up about 2 weeks after Clipped Wings ends and we are brought into both Tenley and Hayden's extreme pain and anxiety at being separated and trying to overcome their pasts. Tenley is struggling to bring closure to her past and can't imagine how Trey could make her life any worse. While Hayden is suffocating through her abandonment. This story moves forward at a beautiful, controlled pace with the entire "family" being included. We hear about Chris, Sarah, Nate, Cassie, and the handsome Jamie, which were all so important to the main storyline. Can Hayden overcome his parents murder and realize that he deserves to live and love while Tenley has to move past the death of everyone she's loved and accept that love comes along and may go but while it's there you have to give it your all. I am so thankful for the opportunity to read this book and can't wait to see what comes next!! *A complimentary copy was given in exchange for an honest review* Pippa, My Secret Book Spot

I had to start Inked Armor by Helena Hunting immediately after finishing book one, Clipped Wings. Well actually I read book 1.5, Between the Cracks first, then I started Inked Armor. Between the Cracks isn’t required reading for the series, but it’s free so why skip it? I was a little confused at the start of this book, I didn’t really understand the “all of a sudden” big deal regarding one of the main issues in the story. The house issue didn’t seem like that big of a deal in book one, but now all of a sudden Tenley is basically camped out in it refusing to leave? I don’t know, I guess I just missed when things went and became so dramatic. Thankfully, this isn’t a major plot point for the entire story and we get to move on quickly. My warning, if you’re like me and feeling a bit off in the beginning stick it out. Book one, Clipped Wings was Tenley’s turn to face her new life and work on getting a handle on things, while that doesn’t really happen until book two, it’s in Inked Armor that Hayden get’s his turn. I felt so bad for Hayden while reading, my heart just hurt for him for everything. What Tenley put him through, his past, his future, his current… I mean everything. While I probably shouldn’t have I found myself in love with Hayden’s OCD tendencies. I think Helena Hunting did a great job expressing what it would look like when Hayden became stressed. He doesn’t have true OCD in a form like I read about in LoveLines, but he definitely has some tendencies that were aggravated by the stress. I really liked getting to see the deeper side of Hayden and all that entailed. I was also glad to see his possessive side return. Inked Armor was also another hot one. I mean there is ‘hood of the car’ sex. Wild, passionate car hood sex. Why that does things for me, I don’t know but it always does when a book can work it in there. Definitely some good stuff going on between the sheets and off of them in Inked Armor. Overall, I just didn’t connect with this one as well as I did book one, Clipped Wings and I don’t really know why. I’ll admit I saw the twist coming (it was my 3rd note), I think anyone who read Clipped Wings and then Inked Armor saw it coming. So once the information is finally confirmed for us I found the ending to be rushed. We received our answers then just brushed through all the fall out of those answers. We have an entire book of Hayden’s guilt that is all set aside with what feels like one sentence. I wish we would have had more scenes with his therapist to see Hayden work through the issues of his past. To that extent, Tenley could have used a bit more therapy as well. Plus after that quick ending I really found I needed an epilogue. Did Hayden and Tenley have kids, get married, what happened next? I need more books! When I like characters as much as I found myself liking these two characters I need to know ALL the information about them. I you liked any of our previous bad boys then I strongly suggest you pick up book one, Clipped Wings and get to know Tenley and Hayden as well. When you’re finished reading, come back and we can dish about the hotness that is Hayden together.

After Tenley left, Hayden is falling more and more into despair. His past is haunting him and his nightmares are even worse than before. Now he is seeing his parents dead but then Tenley is dying and he can't get to her. So the dreams are playing on his waking mind now that he hasn't heard from her. While Tenley has been avoiding all calls except from Lisa, she gets things straightened out and heads back to Chicago. But she is not sure that Hayden wants anything to do with her. But she can't blame him if he doesn't want to see her, after all she left without a word and had been gone over three weeks. The past will haunt them both but it will also help them heal. With the loss of his parents and the loss of her family and fiance, can they get past the past and have a future together? Will the police ever find out who murdered Hayden's parents? Good thing Hayden and Tenley have Cassie, Nate, Lisa, Jamie, Chris and Sarah. Family and friends can help you survive almost anything. This series will tear your heart out and the emotional roller coaster is well worth the ride. I would recommend reading all the Clipped Wings series and hope you enjoy it, I am loving it and now on to Cracks in the Armor. **Copy provided by the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

5 Star review This book was amazing. I loved the first part of their story in clipped wings. Hayden and Tenley are both broken characters. They have fallen for each other but their brokenness needs to be dealt with first. This book is pretty intense. This couple deals with tough issues and going through them is difficult. Seeing Hayden's pain with Tenley gone and then even more as he deals with his parent's death was great. Tenley becomes a pillar for Hayden despite her own moments of difficulty. I thoroughly enjoyed this couple's transformation from broken to healing and from sexual compatibility to deeply rooted love for one another. But yeah, the sexual chemistry remains off the charts even with the change/acknowledgement of their feelings. The other great parts include getting more of the other couples. I am really looking forward to reading about Chris and Sarah as I know we in turn will get more of Tenley and Hayden. So thrilled they got their HEA

IA is the second book in the Clipped wings series. Honestly, I loved CW but just wasn’t feeling the first two novellas and was hoping IA would live up to the hype in my head….AND IT DID! The journey that Tenley and Hayden go through left me speechless. I think the thing I loved the most about this story was how the interactions between the main characters didn’t follow the “normal” and predicable outlines like a lot of other books out today. Things weren’t instantly better just because Tenley returned home. The theme for this installment was emotional turmoil but the way Tee and Henley are there for each other through it all is beautiful. Things that occur towards the end of the book are dealt with and not dragged out which was nice. Everything moved along perfectly. I loved the novels in this series and I look forward to reading Chris and Sarah’s book. While I was happy where IA ended, I still want more of Tenley and Hayden <3 - We were as close as we could get, fused in every way.  In the years between loss and living, I’d forgotten what it was like to love. I didn’t know how it felt to be whole, to be present in my own life.

Audiobook Review: This book was jointly reviewed by myself and my co-blogger, Becca! * Though this review is spoiler-free for Inked Armor, it may contain spoilers for Clipped Wings, book one in this series. * THE STORY: Becca: Inked Armor starts off where Clipped Wings stopped. Clipped Wings ended leaving me wanting more and Inked Armor gave me just what I was looking for! More Tenley… more Hayden… more passion and more answers! Again I am blown away by Helena Hunting’s talent! Her characters, her ability to evoke emotion and her story telling are impeccable. There were several things I loved about this book, the connection between Hayden and Tenley, their growth as individuals and the answers we get about their pasts. Although I did feel like it dragged on in some places… it was slow to start and a little slow in the middle, but by the end it had picked back up and I loved the end of their journey. Not much can compare to my love of Clipped Wings… but I loved this book as well! Lisa: I have to agree, Becca. It’s tough not to compare this book to Clipped Wings, which was simple perfection. Inked Armor started off good for me, bringing us right to Tenley being with Trey (immediately where Clipped Wings ended off) and Hayden determined to save her. I was a bit disappointed in how quickly the scene ended, as I was really enjoying the suspense and impact the first few chapters had. But getting to see more of Hayden and Tenley, though somewhat conflicted at this point, really made their relationship come to life for me. “Love doesn’t always have convenient timing.” THE CHARACTERS: Lisa: In Inked Armor we get to see more of Hayden on a deeper level. In this story, he’s fighting his inner demons more aggressively, unwilling to let others help me in the process. I was quite pleased to see Hayden’s parents’ murder played such a big part in this story. It was tough to read about all of Hayden’s torturous issues, but really helped us get to know him a lot better. Tenley came off as a bit tougher in this book, really having dealt with a lot of her inner struggles in Clipped Wings and in the very beginning of Inked Armor. She definitely still has her hands full with all of her emotions, including her horrible adviser, dealing with her recurring nightmares, and now trying her best to help Hayden through this difficult time for him. This is definitely a power couple that I really enjoy reading about. My only complaint with them is the obsessive amount of sexy scenes. These two can’t keep their hands off of each other. Which is really fine (and many others will probably really enjoy that aspect.), but for me it was just too much. Every chapter or two there was some scene that I found myself skimming over. I do like my romantic scenes, but at a minimum. And these two were definitely at it more often than not. Becca: I agree with Lisa, the growth of Tenley and the light shed on Hayden were such amazing parts of this book. I loved how Tenley learned to cope and overcame so much. When she toughened up and fought for herself, I actually cheered out loud for her I was so proud :) When Hunting then turned her focus to Hayden and we got to learn about his past, his parents and his PTSD I was completely invested and did not want to stop listening! I did not think it was possible to love these characters more then I already did, but Hunting does an amazing job making her characters believable and lovable. I have to agree with Lisa on the “sexy scenes” there were a lot of them. Don’t get me wrong… I am OK with some steaminess ;) but this did get a little over the top, towards the middle. So much so that Lisa and I were commenting on it. Then it dissipated and we got back to the heart of the story, which I was very happy with :) “She’d found a way between the cracks in my armor and blew it apart. I wanted to have the same effect on her.” OVERALL: Becca: I loved how this began and I loved how this ended. Although it cannot compare to Clipped Wings I really enjoyed it. This book really completed Tenley and Hayden’s story for me and made me excited for Sarah and Chris’ story as well. I love when a sequel tidies up loose ends and answers your burning questions and this did just that. We listened to this on Audio, just as we did with Clipped Wings and again I was so impressed with Elizabeth Louise and Jason Carpenter. Their ability to portray each character was just amazing! Let’s not forget Helena Hunting! She has quickly topped my list of favorite Authors! Lisa: I totally agree! This combination of narrators mixed with Helena Hunting’s amazing writing makes for a very enjoyable read. I’m glad we decided to go the audiobook route with this entire series. It definitely has not disappointed one bit! If you like romance novels with flawed characters and lots of sexy scenes, this is a series for you! We want more, Helena! (Especially Chris and Sarah… hint, hint… ;) )

It was a perfect sequel to Clipped Wings. I used my Nook's highlight and note feature a lot. Tenley and Hayden had some important issues to work through both individually and as a couple. I just totally got Hayden. And as in Clipped Wings, I absolutely loved Hayden's sense of humor. I could  easily sympathize with his OCD organizational mania.  I seriously didn't want Hayden & Tenley's story to end. I love when that happens! I look forward to reading about their friends Sarah & Chris next in Cracks in The Armor out this summer.

Hunting has done it again.  I loved this book as much if not more than the first.  The painful journey between the two main characters pulled me in and wouldn't let me go.  It was a mystery embedded in this amazing love story.  I highly recommend this book.

Ooooh boy. Inked Armor was a roller coaster ride with a ton of feels and emotions. Hayden and Tenley are deeply in love, but separated after Tenley leaves to try to wrap up her estate and issues with her jerk (almost) brother-in-law. She's completely torn because she doesn't believe she deserves Hayden and guilty with the realization that losing all the people close to her led her to find this man who is so obviously the love of her life. I could feel her emotions in the words and thoughts of her character. That's how good Helena's writing is. I wasn't just reading it. I was living it.  Hayden is a bit of a mess in this book, but it's completely understandable. He's lost Tenley. Not only is he having nightmares about the murder of his parents again, but now Tenley is prominently featured in them. After one particularly bad night, he reaches out to her again and she returns. They set about trying to fix their relationship – and themselves. It's not an easy road, but they're traveling it together with the realization that even though they love each other, they're going to have to fight to stay together.  Inked Armor had it all. It was an unflinchingly honest look at a relationship between two characters with a lot of baggage. After awhile you begin to wonder if love would be enough to make this relationship work. It was angsty, but I didn't think it was overly so. There were quite a few seriously sexy moments and some suspenseful ones as Hayden and Tenley started to reevaluate what happened the night of Hayden's parents' deaths, thinking answers will help lay some of the nightmares to rest.  I loved these characters and felt their emotions so strongly as I was reading this book. Tenley is so strong, but still so vulnerable. Hayden looks like the stereotypical pierced and tatted bad boy on the outside, but there is so much more to him underneath. They were both so complex and so broken. My heart broke for both of them during this book. But, by the end, secrets had been revealed, the characters had grown tremendously and everything was right with the world.  Helena is two for two with me. Her books have ripped my heart out and put it back together. I love her writing style and I can't wait to read more from her in the future... starting with the novellas in this series. After that, I'll be stalking her Goodreads author page looking for upcoming releases.  I received a copy of this book from the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

“My body is my journal, and my tattoos are my story.” ~ Johnny Depp That quote reminds me so much of this story! The words Inked Armor refer more to just the name of Hayden's tattoo shop, it signifies the armor built within as a layer of defense from a tragic past event. Inked Armor continues the story of Hayden and Tenley.  While Clipped Wings established the pain these two kept inside, Inked Armor is the book where the walls finally come crashing down. Tenley and Hayden's emotional sides play a whole lot of catch up.  It's takes a while, but through the miscommunication, fear, guilt, and dealing with unresolved issues, finally, these two get to see the shining light at the end of the tunnel.  It's not easy.  Inked Armor shows their struggle to lay the past to rest and learn that it's possible to move on together. From the start, Tenley and Hayden have always been physically compatible. Gosh, they get a little too carried away, don't they? I'm thinking of a certain incident that happened on top of the...well, you're gonna have to read and find out. :) I'm so glad I decided to re-read these stories. The Clipped Wings series continue to be among my favorites! This series has been greatly edited. If you're at all wondering how different, I was pleasantly surprised that the published versions are much more streamlined than the longer, original version. There were new-to-me scenes and certain scenes were nicely re-done, but the heart of the story remains the same. Not only does this sequel showcase more tatts and piercings, cupcakes, and steamy goodness, but also, it is a prime example of how resilient the human spirit can be! Inked Armor is an excellent sequel. In the end, I whole-heartedly LOVED taking this journey again. Hmmm, I'm suddenly craving a cupcake...thank you, Helena Hunting!  *I was gifted a copy of this book for an honest review.

I loved the conclusion to Hayden and Tenley's story! This is one of the best series I've read so far this year. This is a hard review to write but I mean that in a positive way because it made me feel so much and it’s hard to convey everything I got out of it. In my notes I used so many different words to describe what I was reading and and my feelings: intensity, anxiety, turmoil, heartbreaking, healing, hotness, chemistry, justice, closure... the list goes on and on.  These complex and scarred characters have so much going on, the details laid out about their lives is pretty incredible and intense. Watching them go through all they did, finding comfort and healing in one another was an emotional roller coaster and it was a heck of a ride. I adore Hayden and Tenley so much!  In the beginning I was pretty angry with Tenley and I felt so badly for Hayden. Once again, I was pulled into their lives and what they were going through. Building trust, opening themselves up, being vulnerable and honest while dealing with horrific pasts.  I had to know the outcome and couldn't read fast enough. I was so extremely happy with the overall story and conclusion. I love that nothing felt predictable and that there were surprises along the way. Just like Clipped Wings this book was extremely hot and has lots of sexy times but it felt a bit different to me because their relationship had grown and evolved. It wasn't just about sex but about a deeper connection the main characters had and I think that was really conveyed. I really enjoyed all the secondary characters in the story and learning even more about them. I’m anxious for Chris and Sarah’s story next in Cracks in the Armor. Officer Cross had me completely stressing out, I did not like him at all (he kind of made my skin crawl). The professor and Sienna were well written bad guys, they provided just the right amount of drama. It's hard to say much more without spoiling anything but I was truly touched by this book. I love a story that makes me really FEEL and messes with my head and I definitely got that. I had a book hangover for days! Incredible book and series. I loved it and highly recommend it. ~Reviewed by ANN & posted at Under the Covers Book Blog Maidens, meet my newest obsession, Hayden Styker. If you could see my copy of this book, I think you’d laugh with out many pink post-it notes are sticking out from the side I basically bookmarked everything I loved about INKED ARMOR. It’s rare for me to come across a series that has everything I want in a book. For one, the writing is so engaging and easy to read. I find Helena Hunting’s authorial voice to be so free-flowing and eloquent while also having a little bit of attitude that works so well with Hayden’s POV. The author pens this book so beautifully that I found it very hard to put this book down. In fact, I read it all in one afternoon and found myself swooning the whole way through. Much of that is due to Hayden’s character. I don’t think I’ve come across a new hero who I could obsess over like this for awhile. On the outside, he has the steel in his face and the tattoos that scream ‘back off’ but inside, Hayden is broken and yearning for the one thing that left him – Tenley. Tenley made a huge mistake by leaving Hayden in the first book of the series. However, while I understand how much it hurt Hayden, I also didn’t find it hard to forgive her. This was something she had to do on her own and while having the support that Hayden would have no doubt provide for her, I knew that Hunting was trying to show development in Tenley’s character. Furthermore, I think it helped that Tenley never once tried to justify herself. She owned up to her mistakes and apologized for them. I can respect that. In INKED ARMOR, we see a much more darker side to Hayden’s character. This book digs up the skeletons that have made Hayden so intriguing. His parent’s murder is addressed in full color and wow, it’s a very tough ride for Hayden. His OCD intensifies, his mood swings go back and forth like a pendulum and nothing is worse that seeing the nightmares that plague him at night. However, together it makes for a very compelling read. As I read this book, I couldn’t help but be reminded of Sylvain Reynard’s Gabriel’s Inferno series. Reynard’s writing is exquisite and so is Hunting’s. Reynard’s character Gabriel has a very dark past, and Hayden’s mirrors that same darkness and angst. So if you’re a fan of Sylvain Reynard’s series, please, please do yourself a favour and read the Clipped Wings series. Hayden is a little more rough around the edges, but those flaws only make me want him more. While the majority of the book was perfect, I will say that the resolution of Hayden’s parent’s murder was very quick. But I could understand why the author chose to wrap it up that way. It wouldn’t have added that much to the story but it would have been nice to see a chapter or two just rounding that out and smoothing out the lines. Helena Hunting once again thrills and excites with INKED ARMOR. I didn’t think I could fall more in love with Hayden and Tenley, but she proved me wrong. Their story, as exquisitely written as it is, will forever remain inked into my heart. *ARC provided by publisher

Inked Armor starts exactly where Clipped Wings left off. Hayden struggles to understand why Tenley just left and hasn't called him or answered his calls. Tenley is trying to get a handle on Connor's estate and deal with Trey and his childish ways. Things aren't easy but she wants to get everything thing under control before she talks to Hayden. When she finally returns, relationahips aren't how she left them. She has a lot of explaining to do and she just hopes that she can make everyone understand. Especially Hayden. Hayden decides that with everything that's happened this past month, he and Tenley need to take things slow. While Hayden tries to trust Tenley again, his nightmares are coming back in full force and images of parents murder xontinue to haunt him. But something about these flashbacks aren't right. There's something missing in the crime scene photos. But can he go thru that again? He's still trying to get back on track with Tenley. Is this going to mess up everything he's worked so hard for? His shop? Tenley? I really liked this book and how the author showed their struggle to overcome their pasts, to deal with it and move on. I felt Tenley and Hayden's pain in dealing with their pasts. It felt so real and raw. I can't wait to read more from Helena Hunting. I think Chris' story is next... ***I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review***

Helena Hunting has done it again! She has an amazing ability to draw you in and captures your attention, while keeping you emerged in Tenley and Hayden’s world from beginning to end. Inked Armor continues from when Tenley returns to Arden Hills with her almost brother-in-law. She has some affairs to tie up and it is a long and emotional road for her. Hayden is going out of his mind without Tenley. A number of weeks have passed, and he was given no explanation as to why she left. He is in a state of depression, his anxiety is at an ultimate high, and all he wants is for Tenley to come home. He misses her. During Tenley’s absence, the relationship with Hayden and TK, the kitten, is TOO CUTE!! I love a man who adores his kitty! Once Tenley has her affairs in order, she leaves Arden Hills, and returns to Chicago. She doesn’t go straight to see Hayden, and that hurts him too. Once face-to-face, Hayden has a ton of questions for Tenley, and he is angry. Rightfully so, too. Tenley coming home is not all cupcakes and rainbows. They have a lot of issues to work out. They each have pasts that need to be worked through, so they can move on in a healthy way. The thing I love most about Helena Hunting’s writing, is that she covers all her bases. She explains each one of her characters’ feelings, the issues they have with trying to resolve their problems, and lets us ride along with each one, so we learn their fears and how they overcome them. Never once does she present her characters with a problem and then BOOM, problem solved. To me, that is a great author. My favorite line from the book would have to be when Hayden tells Tenley that it’s OK if she talks about her ex-fiancé, during the holidays. Tenley says, “I can’t. I’ll cry.” Hayden replies, “That’s okay, I have tissues.” GAH!!! I LOVE HAYDEN STRYKER!!! (Don’t mind me… And, I also want a hoodie! That’s all I’m saying!) I LOVED Inked Armor by Helena Hunting, and I give it 5-stars! If I could give it more, I so would!! Inked Armor is out now, so grab yourself a copy and get you some Hayden lovin’!

4.5 stars I was super nervous going into this book. I was heartbroken at the end of Clipped Wings, but I had this on hand, so I didn't have to wait to see what would happen. I loved Hayden and Tenley so much and I was nervous that they wouldn't be able to make it through their past struggles. In Inked Armor, I feel like I got the full story about what brought them to this place in their lives.  I felt like this book heavily focused on Hayden, which was a total win for me. I love him hard core. We learn more about his past, what actually happened to his parents, and why he tends to have OCD tendencies. We also get a better perspective on his relationship with his Aunt Cassie and Uncle Nate, whom I loved. They really helped Hayden during a time when he felt helpless and it was no different during this time that he waited and struggled with his feeling about Tenley. I'm not saying he necessarily struggled with the fact that he wanted to be with her, but it's hard for him to let people into his heart. He needed to overcome a lot in order to completely be with her. And I felt he did.  That's why I felt like the tattoo on her back was not only symbolic for her, but him as well. For her, it helped her finally heal from the trauma of her past, but for Hayden, I felt like completing something so huge and so personal, helped soothe some of the wounds of his past. And I have to say that Tenley surprised me a bit in this book. I was worried that this book was going to focus more on her past, but what I found was a more secure and confident Tenley. I've always liked her, but in this book I really respected her.  As for the sexy scenes, I felt like the sex scenes in this book weren't as raw as the first book, but more personal and possibly more intense because of the more intimate feelings between them. What certainly can't be denied is the chemistry between these two characters. I loved them, rooted for them, and hoped that they could find peace within themselves so they could be together. And they did. It was satisfying and made me extremely happy.  The supporting characters played a big role in this book. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about Chris in the first book, but I fell for him in this book. It's made me super excited to read the novellas that dive into his character a bit more. And as I said above, I loved Cassie and Nate. They're actually closer to my age and it was great to see such a healthy, happy couple as good role models and supports to Hayden and Tenley. They both needed that love and stability.  Overall, I loved this series and so happy I read it. I nearly shelved it because I thought it was a paranormal, which I love, but wasn't really in the mood for at the time I got these. Tenley and Hayden have become a favorite couple of mine. I'm not only happy I got to read their story, but I'm thrilled to have these beauties on my shelf. You know, sometimes a book comes along and surprises me, captures me in a way that was unexpected. That's the absolute best feeling in the world as a reader. Give this series a chance, you won't be disappointed.  Quotes: (I didn't just have quotes highlighted. I marked entire pages.) ~"I missed you." Her palm rested against my cheek and she urged my head up higher. Her mouth was right there.  She was the one who leaned in.  She was the one who drew me closer.  Her lips pressed against mine. She tasted just as I remembered...but it wasn't the same.-Loc 835 ~"Watching you eat cupcakes is better than porn." "You think so?" I batted my eyelashes at him, then sucked icing off my finger.  His hand disappeared below the tablecloth and he shifted in his chair. His nose brushed my cheek. "Much better. Infinitely better."-Loc 2469 ~There would never be another one of these firsts: Tenley's first finished back piece, and the first time I'd ever put something so significant on someone I loved. It was pretty damn momentous. So I was going to savor this experience. And she let me.-Loc 4088

Inked Armor. Helena Hunting Review from Jeannie Zelos Book reviews. So; onto the final part of this series ( prequel novella Cupcakes and part one Clipped Wings). I've loved Tenley and Hayden so far, but at the end of the last novel Tenley had returned back to her former home, forced back by Trey, an awful, controlling person who knows just what to say to hurt her, and bring her back to the shadow person she was in the early days after the crash. We learn even worse things about him, and Tenley really sinks low before she can pick herself up and pull things together. That's tough as Trey has done things she didn't know about, which affect her immensely. He's very clever and manipulative, and wants Tenley under his control for greedy reasons. Back home Hayden has really lost it, he's not eating or looking after himself, just letting his OCD take over in an effort to survive without Tenley. His nightmares are worsening, involving Tenley this time, not just his parents, and his family and friends really worried about him. In the earlier books Hayden always came over as having problems from his past still affecting him, but he seemed to have it under control apart from the OCD about tidiness, and it was Tenley that struggled. Its all change now with Tenley still looking back at the past with sorrow, but beginning to accept she has a right to happiness, and she realises that not only does she deserve Hayden, but that he Needs her. She's shocked at how low and distressed he is when she finally sees him, and they struggle at first to find the best way to go forward. Hayden is terrified she'll leave again, and it takes all she can to convince him otherwise. Secrets from the past come out, things from his parents murder are revealed, and they send Hayden even further into his obsessiveness. Tenley is struggling to cope with him, she knows he can't help it but she's really worried, as are his family and good friends. She's also still got the problem of her professor to deal with, but that seems minor in the face of the other stresses. I loved this book, absolutely packed with drama and action, we see just how important good friends and family are when things go wrong, how easy it is to slip into depression and just give up. Tenley really shone for me here in the way she didn't let Hayden slip down but did everything to support him, even when things were tough to do. I loved the way their romance was enriched and strengthened by the control they gained over their pasts. I loved the support of the friends/co workers and the fabulous Cassie and Nathan. There were some hot, sensual, erotic moments too, as well as a few laugh out loud snippets so its not all doom and gloom, but just the right balance of light and dark. Its a great read, a true romance, with two people hurt by their pasts coming together to find love, and support each other in moving forward. Its a collection I loved, and will certainly re read. If you need your romance to have hot sex, but a solid story, to have real people and genuine problems, but who pull through in a way we understand, not some miraculous quick fix cure then you'll love these books. Stars: Five, five all the way :) ARC supplied by Netgalley
