“Hot and humorous.” —
Petite, kind, brilliant, and young, Stevie is nothing like the usual women bodyguard Shen Li is interested in. Even more surprising, the youngest of the lethal, ball-busting, and beautiful MacKilligan sisters is terrified of bears. But she’s not terrified of pandas. She loves pandas.
Which means that whether Shen wants her to or not, she simply won’t stop cuddling him. He isn’t some stuffed Giant Panda, ya know! He is a Giant Panda shifter. He deserves respect and personal space. Something that little hybrid is completely ignoring.
But Stevie has a way of finding trouble. Like going undercover to take down a scientist experimenting on other shifters. For what, Shen doesn’t want to know, but they’d better find out. And fast. Stevie might be the least violent of the honey badger sisters, but she’s the most dangerous to Shen’s peace of mind. Because she has absolutely no idea how much trouble they’re in . . . or just how damn adorable she is.

Would have given the book five stars but really... the "c" word? Humor has been a great part of this series since the beginning and can't recall this kind of language being needed to be funny. Otherwise, an entertaining story. Can't wait for Max' s book.

Best book from this author in a while. Loved Shen and Stevie together. Great to have previous characters so intertwined in the story.

Code Status: Star rating DOA—EMS:  Emergency Must See:   5 Allergies/Sensitivities: Content that some readers may find triggering or objectionable, not exhaustive There is on page sex and violence and superiority complexes and evil ex-boyfriends imprisonment and attempted DNA manipulation Several characters also have mental health disorders that are discussed at certain points throughout the book. There is some heteronormative language also. History: Is this part of a series, a spin off, a debut, or a stand alone? This is book 2 in a spin-off series called the Honey Badger Chronicles. The main (hehe) series is the Pride series and starts with The Mane Event. Well, the further back original series is the Magnus pack trilogy starting with Pack Challenge. That's when I first fell in love with Shelly Laurenston's writing and though there has been a noticeable increase in finesse or polish she has retained the voice and style that first made me a fan! Temperature: Heat level- 1 to 5 thermometers noting the amount of explicit content There is on page sex and some blunt language concerning it. I would call it a 3 as it is definitely not a majority and each scene serves to advance the story line. Pain Level: How much angst, drama, or emotional pain is contained, 1-10? One of the reasons I love Laurenston's writing, is the way she handles what can be pretty heavy topics without losing the overall humor of book. Her books are very low on angst to me (which I like!). Heart Rate: How much Action, Horror, Thriller, Mystery, and Excitement etc 0-5 3 there is definitely conflict and some tense moments, enough to keep the story moving and the pages turning but nothing that stressed me out.  Breathing: How long is the novel and how was the pacing? 1-3 2 I thought the book was great but I would have been okay with more at the end. I feel like it wrapped up kind of fast at the end but I was smiling so it worked ;-) Diversity: How much and what kind of diversity is found among the characters? Any glaring issues noticed by the reviewer? Shelly Laurenston (an author of color) writes a realistically diverse world in a multitude of ways. Not only do many of her books feature interracial lead couples but all of those characters are surrounded with multiethnic/multiracial characters AND since we're talking shifters, the majority of her books feature hybrid shifters (ie Tigons, Ligers, Coydogs, Wolf Dogs, Honey Badger-tiger, etc) This is where many of the conflicts come in actually, with groups being intolerant of hybrid shifters. It is really masterfully done and creates a much more realistic world and foil for real issues without taking the fun and humor out of the story. I simply adore the way all of these things are handled in the book. In some books there are mentions of same-sex couples as well. I would also love if we got a story actually starring a same-sex couple, or a polyamorous relationship etc. Examination: Overall review; may contain minor spoilers Book two in the Honey Badgers Chronicles does not disappoint. Stevie is a genius in math/science and in music. She also has a panic disorder and isn't quite in control of her shifting into a ginormous honey badger-tiger hybrid (yes, that is as terrifying as it sounds). She's afraid of Bears, among other things, but not Pandas. Enter Shen Li, giant panda shifter and security expert. He's supposed to protect Kyle a narcissistic Jackal prodigy who is hanging out with the Mackilligan sisters

Loved it! Had a great time reading and laughing with this book. Didn't matter that I was reading it at the airport and I'm sure people turned and stared, this book was very entertaining. Stevie's character showed a lot more spunk than the last book and she may be the "nice" sister but she sure can hold her own. Shen grew on me too since when he was introduced in previous books and I loved the way it works out between them. As a bonus, I really liked the brief visits of the other Pride characters. Enjoy!

In a Badger Way by Shelly Laurenston is the second book in The Honey Badger Chronicles. This book is a stand alone novel that is written in the Pride series shifter world. It is an incredible read because the characters in it are so funny, snarky, and likeable. This book focuses on Stevie Mackilligan the youngest of the three sisters Charlie, Max, and Stevie, who are all honey badger shifters and a panda shifter named Shen. It is so humorous when read it made me LOL and kept my attention because the story is wonderful and full of interesting twists and turns. This book a great addition to the any readers bookshelf. Note that this series is intertwined with the Pride series and the wonderful world of the characters in it. Furthermore, all of the books in these series are a great read and I recommend you read them all!

In a Badger Way is a fun silly read that entertains from start to finish. We get a sweet and cuddly Panda shifter hero (Shen) and a slightly psycho Badger hybrid heroine (Stevie). Both characters are really likable and well written. I enjoyed Shen's constant crunching and Stevie's phobias and anxiety. I felt like the characters belong together and enjoyed their road to happily ever after. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance with a supernatural comedic theme. I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

My Thoughts - 5 out of 5 Unicorns - I loved it!!! ***I choose what I read and review based on what intrigues me!! Yes, I received a review copy of this book, but no one tells me what to think, feel, or write about any book! I collect Shelley’s books in paperback, and I will own this in paperback too! The cover is intense and focused…I love it! This is the 2nd book in the Honey Badger series, and it is for adults only due to the violence of honey badgers and the steamy content. You are also required to have an awesome sense of humor because Shelly’s sense of humor is epic, and I wouldn’t want you to miss it! This is Shen and Stevie’s story, but her sisters and the triplets are back, and we mustn’t forget everyone else I love too that make appearances like Dutch, Blayne, Jess, Bo, lots of wilddogs, and Kyle and his brilliant family. There is an evil scientist who is experimenting on hybrids, and Stevie feels obligated to take him down. I couldn’t put this book down because there was always something happening and a lot of snarky humor that had me laughing so hard that people asked me what was so funny. Max is psychotic and hilarious and gets into more trouble with the cat and bees. I love how the sisters fight constantly, but they are always there for each other and will not put up with anyone messing with Stevie. Stevie is an awesome hybrid and her and Shen make total sense. I can’t wait to see what happens next in the Honey Badger Chronicles!! I highly recommend to any shifter fans who love Shelly’s humor and violence when it comes to shifters! She is one of my favorite authors and I always know I’m in for a great read with her shifter books!
