Overview

She promised three nights, but he’ll crave a lifetime

Infamous for his pedigree of madness and murder, the reclusive Duke of Ashbey believes he cannot feel until a mysterious woman unlocks a world of sensation in a single, shattering moment of connection. Ash casts a desperate bid for more.

Recent widow Alicia Stone has long been reviled as the chief impediment to a love affair that captured the nation’s imagination. Publicly, she settled for respectability’s cold comfort, but, secretly, she longs to experience what she never found with her famous husband—uninhibited passion.

When Ashbey proposes a discreet three-night assignation, Alicia shocks herself by accepting. But will their explosive union cost them both far more than they bargained?

This was a sexy book without much of a story.

The Duke of Ashbey has a reputation, he has to live with his past and there’s nothing he can do to change it. He isn’t interested in a relationship, thinking he’ll bring bad luck to the woman. Ash leads a solitary life, but that changes when he meets Alicia. She’s a widow with a scandalous family history. She was left with nothing while her husband’s money went to his mistress and the child he had with her. Alicia’s marriage was far from happy and she never wants to get involved with an arrogant member of the ton again. Ash is heartbroken and recognizes a kindred soul in Alicia. He rescues her from a terrifying situation and doesn’t want to let her go. However, Ash doesn’t get attached, so he comes up with a compromise. He offers Alicia three nights, she will receive the passion she missed in her marriage and will be treated like her husband should have treated her. Will she accept this offer to spend a short, but probably wonderful time with a dangerous and damaged man? Her Duke at Daybreak is an intriguing romantic story. Both Ash and Alicia have been through a lot. Alicia was treated appallingly by her late husband and he shamed her by withholding her an inheritance. She’s a strong woman though and she can take care of herself. I loved her backbone and willingness to choose happiness, even if it’s just for a few days. Ash needs someone to heal his spirit, he’s a kindhearted man with an awful reputation. I couldn’t wait to find out the truth behind these accusations and read the story in one sitting because I was completely enthralled by his family history. Wendy LaCapra knows how to write a good romantic story. She’s chosen interesting multilayered main characters that kept me glued to the pages from beginning to end. I love it when a story captivates me straight from the beginning. Her Duke at Daybreak is an original regency romance filled with passion, true love, heartache and surprising twists and turns. I really enjoyed reading this beautiful story and highly recommend it.

'Her Duke at Daybreak' by Wendy LaCapra is the First book in the New Series called "Mythic Dukes". This is the story of Ash, the Duke of Ashbey and Alicia Stone. Ash's father was labeled mad and thought to have killed someone but was never convicted. Ash's first wife was rumored to have killed herself rather than stay married to Ash. So Ash too has been rumored about through out his life. Ash agrees that he has no heart but when he sees Alicia she stirs something in him. Alicia is now a widow after her husband dies and supposedly left everything to his mistress and his daughter. Alicia has always lived in his Mistress shadow along with his daughter. Alicia is a strong person but does wonder what is next for her. Ash has thought of nothing by Alicia since hearing about her and then seeing her. Ash has just learned it is better to not stay long with one women so he offers her three days and nights with him. Alicia always being in the shadows and never knowing passion agrees to his request. But will three days be enough for either of them? Loved their story and can't wait for more in this new series!

Her Duke At Daybreak by Wendy LaCapra is a fantastic historical romance. Ms LaCapra has delivered a well-written book and furnished it with outstanding characters. Alicia is a wife ignored and now a widow, Ashbey is the son of a mad, murdering duke. Their story is touching. Ms LaCapra has loaded this book with drama, a bit of angst (but not an overdose), a sprinkle of humor and sizzle. I was glued to this book from start to finish, it's just that good. I enjoyed reading Her Duke At Daybreak and look forward to reading more from Wendy LaCapra soon. Her Duke At Daybreak is book 1 of the Mythic Dukes Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger. I voluntarily read an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

This is the first book I have read by Wendy LaCapra and I truly loved it. This is a story of too injured souls who are fated to meet. Ash, the Duke of Ashby has been a tortured since his wife set fire to his estate and both her and Ash’s father perished. He is haunted because he believes madness runs in his family and since the fire, he has lost all human feeling for others. Lady Alecia Stone has just lost her husband, although she had lost him emotionally years ago to his mistress, who had produced a child. With society giving Alecia the cold shoulder she can hardly maintain composure. Ash and Alicia meet and Ash makes her a proposition she eventually cannot resist!! The author pulls you into the emotions of the characters and you feel part of their loneliness and then wonderful attraction that consumes them. This is a must read and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series! I only ask that we do not have to wait too long!!
